  1. Rosier and Sikes are two guys I had never thought about before, but they have played well early on.
  2. Goodrum has a 35% walk rate right now. However, every time he gets called up to the bigs, his k rate increases exponentially. He had a 44% k rate in Spring Training (24 k's) this year too. Last year in 45 PA's, his k rate was 51.1% with HOU!
  3. If they are switching, it's not because they looked at CERA.
  4. He's probably better than Arroyo at this point.
  5. 100%
  6. Here's who Caleb Hamilton has caught: Mata - 3 times Paxton - 2 times Dermody Walter Alfaro has caught every other start, including Whitlock and Bello's good starts.
  7. Just look at the graph. His second start was worse than anything last season. A "brief spike" of 9 starts that had velo that exceeded anything that we've seen this year. Ok.
  8. Caleb Hamilton caught each of Mata's 3 starts when you check the box scores.
  9. They only have one season to figure it out. Without an option available for next year, there is more urgency to decide what his long term role is. Unless they are just going to leave him as the 8th man in the pen and not care what happens in 2024?
  10. Kluber was able to figure it out last season. He just lost too much velo this offseason. It comes quick for older pitchers. That's the risk Chaim is taking. 50% of the time I keep wanting to type in "Ben" instead of Chaim...
  11. I'd swap Winck for Walter. Winck has been very effective out of the pen. I think he takes a step back if he reverts to the starting role. Kutter has been interesting at times. I don't know how sustained his success can be. Basically a replacement for Pivetta.
  12. @tylermilliken_ Alex Cora on Jarren Duran after yesterday’s game: “You can see the intent with the swing… you see it from batting practice, too — it’s not the show he was putting the last few years hitting the ball in the air pull side, now he’s driving the ball to left field, left center.” 7 of the 11 balls he’s put in play so far have an exit velo over 100. Ok... When am I allowed to get excited for Jarren Freakin' Duran? He's not ready for the real word yet. He revamped his swing in 2020. Had a breakout in AAA in 2021, but was exposed at the MLB level after showing a little spark. In 2022, he basically flatlined and really didn't provide anything. That was the true bottom of the barrel for his trajectory of him in the org. Can 2023 finally be his year?
  13. It would make no sense to have him figure out a career change at the MLB level next season. Mata isn't a guy you can sneak through waivers. I think the writing is on the wall.
  14. Mata 2023: 12 Innings 12 BB 14 K 10 H It's not just one bad start either.
  15. They should. He has no more options after this year.
  16. @mlbtraderumors Jose Iglesias Opts Out Of Deal With Marlins
  17. Seems like he's earning one. They better not start yo-yoing him around again.
  18. Yeah, you don't usually find an ace for 10M anymore.
  19. That was his goal all offseason. He told his agent he wanted to sign somewhere that would give him the chance to be a starter. I believe he came up as a starter too. Don't believe he was very effective back then.
  20. Mata has lots of command issues and they've still kept him in a starter's role. I would transition him to a relief profile though. I would leave Walter as a starter though.
  21. In a strict relief role on the 40 man? Not really.
  22. Chang would probably be DFA'd for Mondesi and he'd probably be cleared through waivers too. By the time Story is ready to come back, Mondesi will be back on the 60 day.
  23. The 60 day IL only.
  24. Rays were on a hot stretch. Sox hadn't figured it out. There's time for the Sox to get their identity and to become a more competent team.
  25. He has a good eye, but a really long swing. Needs to adjust to AA and struggled last year as well from what I remember.
