    I don't remember them doing this with Blake Snell, Chris Archer, McClanahan or Glasnow and they certainly aren't doing that right now with Taj Bradley. Aside from David Price, which other arms did they do that with?

    Yuli is 39 coming off an 85 wRC+ season. Tough to call him a good hitting 1B. His '23 Statcast page isn't happy with him either.

    I don't understand the fascination that Bloom has in throwing s***** defenders out there over and over again. That is NOT the Rays Way. The Rays find players with utility that can play all over. They don't force utility onto players that don't have it. When the pitchers are mediocre or worse, don't make it harder on them by having a s*** show behind them.

    Yeah, dude. I posted his updated scouting report the other day. Cutter: 86-90 mph. Short, horizontal break with bite. Able to get in on the hands of right-handed hitters and likes to go to it early in the count. Already shows advanced feel for the pitch after adding it during the 2022-23 offseason. Potential average offering.

    He's been good at making contact and taking a walk. We'll see if he can keep up with the new approach. If all he's doing is taking advantage of bad pitches? FINE.

    Also, you were very certain that you saw him play shortstop, so I'm not sure you knew exactly who you were paying attention to since Valdez never played shortstop for Worcester. As Old Red would say, this scouting report is SUSPECT.

    I'm not digging that old post up. I'm the TalkSox historian, not the TalkSox archaeologist. Since various posters refuse to state specifically who the Bloom Brigade are, I'm not going to throw the Valdez is a good SS poster under the bus. Keeping it vague.

    Until Paxton complains about the IL stints. They kept Taylor rehabbing in AAA all last season.

    I think it's much easier to find a good glove guy that can't hit. They just have to string together 30 days until Mondesi is back? Arroyo can't hit and is a below average 2B IMO. Valdez can hit, but is a complete butcher at 2B. The best fit at 2B is Kiké. Just find another Yu Chang? He played in 4 orgs last year. Guys like him are around. Just go get another one.     Miss what? Drohan's velo hadn't popped and he didn't have the cutter yet. He's a different pitcher this April than he was in September.

    I don't think any club was going to take Hamilton. The Sox aren't ready to put him on the MLB roster. If they are unwilling to use him when they desperately need to LIKE RIGHT NOW, then there was no reason to protect him. They should have protected Thaddeus Ward instead.

    It just shows that SoxProspects were right to push him up the rankings. They were on him early. If we knock them for their misses, they can earn their flowers for their hits.

    They were hopeful that he could pitch last season. Why didn't they pick up the club option? Were they happy to just let him go to FA after all that hard work rehabbing him last year?!??!?

    Someone at the TalkSox scouting department told me he was a good defender too! What gives? Damn, I'm just going to have to listen to the biased lamestream media at SoxProspects who have always maintained that Valdez was horrible at 2B and that he has no defensive position.

    I think there's a better chance Paxton gets DFA'd than Kluber. Kluber just signed a one year deal (club option). He's had 2 good starts and 2 terrible starts. Paxton is in AAA, still trying to rehab and has a WHIP over 2. While his velo is higher than Kluber's, he's pitching way worse than Kluber. Who cares what they spent last season? Paxton is the definition of the sunk cost fallacy. Right now, he's only 4M. Did the D'Bags hold onto MadBum because of everything they invested in him and still have left to pay out or just decide enough was enough? Red Sox need to do what is best for the organization. That might not always be what is best for the checkbook!
