Remember when everyone was amazed at how honest Palmeiro was in front of Congress? Sports writers and fans always want to believe in their "heroes." Laughable.
When he first came up, some Boston writers were comparing his bad to Ted Williams and stating that power would develop. I think most saw 25 HR's to be a sure thing.
Uh...
@alexspeier: Henry Owens' amazing run of no-hit innings reached 19 1/3 before he finally gave up his first hit in the 6th. Nearly untouchable in trades.
Ells is not a $20M a year guy. He just isn't who would pay $20M for a guy whose only weapon is speed? No one will pay that much for a guy with no power and a long injury history.
I wouldn't think the case would have merit considering some of the users the Yanks have employed in the past. It almost seems like a last ditch haily mary knowing that ARod is most likely going to play and get paid. The union may not be entirely behind ARod, but it would be foolish to let him get put through the ringer and having a team wipe its ass with the CBA while doing it.
Why do you have to be so negative all the time? People have the right to let their sports allegiances blow whichever way the wind takes them.
Me? I'm a Pirates fan! Iron City for life! Go buckos! Andy Van Slyke was sick...
