  1. Ells is fast enough why not a straight steal instead of a sacrifice?
  2. I can see this team doing a 2006.
  3. RIP Frank Castillo
  4. @nickcafardo: Red Sox and Phillies have engaged in talks on Cliff Lee and Michael Young, but Sox won't deal top prospects.
  5. Noticing more talk about Aramis Ramirez. Would anyone want him? I'd take him over Young for sure.
  6. RIP George Scott
  7. I agree. It'll be interesting to see what the open market thinks of him.
  8. And in a span of an hour, you've already come down from 20M to 18M. Personally, I'd be surprised if he signs for more than 14M AAV.
  9. It goes against the CBA. The union should fight this.
  10. Remember when everyone was amazed at how honest Palmeiro was in front of Congress? Sports writers and fans always want to believe in their "heroes." Laughable.
  11. When he first came up, some Boston writers were comparing his bad to Ted Williams and stating that power would develop. I think most saw 25 HR's to be a sure thing.
  12. BJ Upton also hit 28 HR's leading up to his new contract. Ells won't get to 10.
  13. Uh... @alexspeier: Henry Owens' amazing run of no-hit innings reached 19 1/3 before he finally gave up his first hit in the 6th. Nearly untouchable in trades.
  14. Ells is not a $20M a year guy. He just isn't who would pay $20M for a guy whose only weapon is speed? No one will pay that much for a guy with no power and a long injury history.
  15. Doesn't matter who wins the AL. It's the Pirates' year.
  16. I wouldn't think the case would have merit considering some of the users the Yanks have employed in the past. It almost seems like a last ditch haily mary knowing that ARod is most likely going to play and get paid. The union may not be entirely behind ARod, but it would be foolish to let him get put through the ringer and having a team wipe its ass with the CBA while doing it.
  17. "Red Sox very much in Jake Peavy sweepstakes. Wouldn't exactly say they're favorites but between motivation and prospects in strong position."
  18. Olney says Sox are behind A's and STL for Peavy. I think Peavy doesn't come here if top 10 prospects are involved and ChiSox don't take on any salary.
  19. First witness: Andy Pettitte How is it "damaging the brand" if you willingly take on known PED users?
  20. @pgammo: A's not in on Peavy price(Gray, Russell & take on bearly $20M), ditto Boston, ditto Atlanta. Time running down
  21. f*** the Lakers, the Clippers will be better next year. Lob City!
