So they signed Napoli only to face lefties? Don't think so. If they get a backup 1b, it's not going to be a platoon situation. It'd be more like a guy who would fill in once a week at most. "Hey, we were going to sign this guy for $13M AAV to only face LHP!" Sounds kinda silly to me. Since Napoli won't be catching, I'm not sure they have a huge need for another 1b.

Peyton only made it to one SB. Not better than Brady. In my lifetime, I'd take Brady, Elway and Montana over Peyton. I think Peyton and Marino are right behind those guys though. If not for a s***** defense, Brady would have at least one more ring. -
Not sold on the A's or Braves either. I think the Reds and Rays are better than those two.

Is that how it works (valued in April/May)? If it's based pn total 2013 salary the what's the point in brushing up against the cap before April? Let's say the Sox are playing great in 2013, but need an additional piece to push them over the top? Without any payroll flexibility, they'd be stuck with their thumbs up their ass and certain people on here would rip them.

He's the definition of sexy. Every pink hat knows who he is. He's the longest tenured Red Sox. He's on tv all the time. He's one of the most fan friendly guys that MLB has.

Brooklyn has more than one neighborhood? Wow, there's some great analysis. Does Bensonhurst represent all of Brooklyn? Of course not. I'm not here to belittle Brooklyn, just your childish "Fred and I are from Brooklyn yuck yucking" like it means anymore than growing up elsewhere. Finally, I stopped caring about this conversation the second it started. We have nothing to prove to each other. You think I'm a jackass, that's fine. I don't care.

"Couldn't last?" More like, didn't want to spend an additional second with my ex. Aside from J&V Pizza, Bensonhurst had little else going for it. It was on 67th, close to J&V (for me) and the porkstore (for my dog). I have more respect for Fred knowing that he was from Queens instead.

They already have LH bats in Salty (1b), Kalish and Nava (OF). If the guy isn't a step up from those three, why even bring them in? Not sure this team needs more bench players.

The last I'll speak on the subject... You guys act like Brooklyn was some mythical verbal sparring ground 50 years ago. However, it seems all it gave you was the ability to use emoticons and come up with dumb nicknames like Varipuke. It clearly didn't give you the ability to listen to anyone but yourselves.
