    Dempster in the AL, Lackey after TJS, and Dubront after a substantial jump in innings... Is it "very likely" that they'll be league average? It seems to me there is a good chance that at least 2 of those guys perform worse than expected.

    I'd say "mostly" not all. If they pitch great, but the remaining guys pitch like Aaron Cooke, they're toast.

    Marcum averaged 166 innings over the previous 5 years. He's far from a sure thing if you're looking for 200 innings, a mark he's only reached once.

    The rotation kinda sucks. My point was that Marcum wouldn't make it much better. The Sox were at their best when they had Beckett rolling. Dempster and Marcum wouldn't provide that.

    C'mon, at least reserve "epic fail" for something of importance. Adding a better option at the bottom of the rotation does not put them over the top. Marcum would've been a nice addition, but it's not like that move would make them a contender.

    If he's used as a lefthanded bat only, they could do worse. Would rather Salty as backup 1b than Nava.

    Thorpe also played pro baseball and cleaned up at the Olympics. Saying he was only excellent at football is simply wrong.

    The problem with saying Lebron is that he plays in a sport where if someone looks at hom the wrong way, it's called a foul. What would happen to him if he lined up as a TE and took a big shot? We'll never know. Jim Thorpe might be the greatest ever, but in my lifetime it's probably Bo. Maybe Deion Sanders (fast, played 2 sports, would be scary on a fastbreak).

    You better hope Lavs starts hitting in ST. If not, I think he'll be in AAA to begin the year. Salty is a backup C/1b at best, but the problem is this roster doesn't have any better options. In reality, they should have moved him when he was smoking the ball early last year. The Nats needed a C, but no move was made with the Sox. It's not that Salty is a great option, it's just that's what this roster is stuck with right now. Even if they traded Salty today, it's a 90% chance that Gomez is the backup. People hoping for Garrett Jones are living in a fantasy world. It's not going to happen.

    Guess they won't be dealing Salty then? He is the big LH bopper certain posters have been clamoring for.

    Brady got to the AFC championship with Reche Caldwell as his number 1 receiver. Brady's intangibles are the reason he's been far more successful than Manning his whole career. The Broncos lost in the divisional round because he threw a horrible pick in OT. That's something Brady just never does. Manning was never a stat whore until he had an elite receiving corps either.
