  1. They'd want every player back if the price is right. They would have been psyched to sign Lester to a below market deal. They wanted him back just at a reduced cost.
  2. That was only a PR move imo.
  3. I will not repeat what my Grandfather-in-law said about Oki after the first time he faced the Yanks.
  4. Ok? Is that a problem or smart business?
  5. Do you want to know the terrifying truth, or do you want to see me sock a few dingers? Dingers! Dingers! Dingers!
  6. They paid Dempster $13M! They don't see any amount of money as obscene.
  7. Prospects >>>> Money (see Moncada and Castillo signings)
  8. Cheaper than Hamels and no loss of prospects?
  9. If other teams were interested, MLBTR would be talkung about it in order to get more eyeballs on their site from other fan bases. The fact that they aren't listing any other teams says all you need to know.
  10. If he was 27, you fall all over yourself to make a deal. At 31, you wait it out.
  11. Why be the only team to offer anything of value? Just wait Amaro out. I'd rather have Swihart, Betts, Owens, Rodriguez, etc.
  12. Hope Mookie lays off the collard greens and watermelon this year!
  13. Rice and red beans?
  14. Wasn't sure about age restrictions but this doesn't relate to the draft. Does it?
  15. Per Alex Speier: "Meanwhile, the Sox had already blown past their international spending guidelines (approximately $1.9 million) for the 2014-15 international amateur signing period, something the team did by signing a pair of highly regarded starting pitchers (Anderson Espinoza and Chris Acosta) to a combined $3.3 million in bonuses. For that reason, the team will not be able to sign any international amateurs under the age of 23 to bonuses in excess of $300,000 in either the 2015-16 or 2016-17 international amateur signing periods. In some ways, then, the Sox seized an opportunity to crash through a closing window on their international amateur free agent possibilities."
  16. They'll be out on international bidding in 2016 and 2017 due to restrictions from the Castillo and Moncada signings.
  17. The stadium in Richmond looks like McCoy did 20 years ago but they don't compare now. That stadium (The Diamond) can't compete these days.
  18. Pedro salsa > Papi Hot Sauce > Pedroia Salsa > Pitino Tomato Sauce
  19. Iortiz would definitely eat Cole Hummus.
  20. We are a week away from the BoSox lising a doubleheader to BC and NU! March 3rd!
  21. I think it's supposed to be in the 195 land that they've tried to develop forever. There's nothing over there but urban blight right now.
  22. Looks like the teams that don't have an MLB club within 200 miles have the best attendance. I don't see a new stadium providing anything more than a temporary bump in attendance. PawSox compete with the BoSox for dollars.
  23. I love this plan.
  24. If they don't go now, they won't go a few years after the new stadium is built. Tickets will be more expensive. Parking will be more expensive.
  25. LL put his own money down (approx $2M).
