    I hope that is the case. It seems that ownership always got the blame for the s***** contracts of Crawford, Panda, et al, but we never really knew for sure. If you liked the GM, you'd blame ownership for any poor move.

    No, just quirks and luck. Talent and good coaching does not matter anymore. Is the game quirky? You betcha! Is luck involved? Of course, you'd be a fool to state otherwise. Talent and coaching are overstated. It doesn't matter if the manager makes the wrong call because they players should be able to overcome it. It doesn't matter if one team has more talent because the managers should be able to make the proper call to make up for the talent gap. If that call is wrong, well the players should be able to overcome it anyway.

    How did the Tigers get to the WS? Trades and FA's. I don't think Dombrowski will hold onto all of the prospects. He will move guys to fill more important needs (i.e. starting pitching).

    Nope. Baseball boils down to quirks and luck. Talent and good coaching does not matter or have much of an effect.

    That's not entirely true. If the roster was limitless, we'd have signed Lester or Scherzer. The concern was that having Lester on the roster in his late 30's would be a bad contract AND a waste of space on the roster.

    I wasn't trolling. I was being honest in my assessment. If I make a sarcastic comment, there's usually some truth embedded in it. Honestly, I don't want Buchholz back, but I know for certain that the FO will bring him back.
