  1. No no no... He was including himself in the "thinks they are smarter than the FO" considering his constant whining about Price.
  2. If he goes to the Cubs, my hatred for them will be complete...
  3. People thought it was a great deal at the time because Webster and DeLaRosa were included in it. Five years later, DeLaRosa is a bottom of the rotation guy and Webster is currently pitching in Korea.
  4. Chris Young - Good Deal Carson Smith - Good Deal Sandy Leon Re-signed - Good Deal Exercised Clay's Option - No Brainer Traded Garin Checchini for cash - Good Deal You can question Price over and over, that's fine. Kimbrel has been good when healthy. Pomeranz pitched fine last time out. I think the catching staff needs to learn how he should pitch.
  5. I thought this was a current Red Sox vs former Red Sox tracker? If it's strictly a Yankees tracker, it should go in the Yankees forum.
  6. Wouldn't the Carl Crawford tracker be Red Sox LF vs Carl Crawford?
  7. 2012 wasn't a "great deal." They basically gutted the team and handed over some top stars to help an NL team win 3 pennants in a row.
  8. Farrell and Co needs to get these guys to bounce back. You're bound to give up runs to the best hitters in the game sooner than later.
  9. It seems like it. I would recommend that you don't read the gamethreads. They are the Mos Eisley Cantina of Talksox.
  10. The silly part to me is the endless patting themselves on the back. I guess that's how things were at BDC? If we're keeping score, my offseason was pretty spot on in regards to needing a #2, thinking Hanley would be fine at 1b and not the disaster everyone thought he would be, wanting Pablo gone so that Shaw could play 3b, not wanting to get Buchholz's no brainer option, wanting an ERod replacement the second he went down, wanting Taz and Uehara's innings managed, etc... Would people want me to talk about this ad nauseam? I guess all they have is "welp, we thought Benintendi and Moncada were "really great" but you only said they were just "great." s***, you got me man... I'm ruined.
  11. I've never stated as such.
  12. Here's what I said about Moncada over a month ago.
  13. This is what I said back in mid June:
  14. When teammates have to start commenting for you to the media on why you are grabbing your crotch and fighting teammates, it becomes a clubhouse issue.
  15. Would he make this team better though? I'd rather have Hembree out there than Papelbon.
  16. His arm is better than Damon's. I think you're misremembering how bad Damon's arm was.
  17. http://deadspin.com/5388660/coming-soon-jonathan-papelbons-dubious-taste-in-cinema
  18. So, if he gets hurt in the 3rd inning, someone is going to complain that he should have been pinch run for? I doubt it. If there's a chance that he'll get another AB in the game, you don't pinch run for him. Even if it's the 7th inning, I'm not sure you would pinch run for Ortiz. 8th or 9th? Sure.
  19. He's 5th in the league in innings pitched. Seems to be that he's one of the best at pitching late in games.
  20. Why? It was the 6th inning, not the 8th or 9th.
  21. There were other options available. There's no such thing as professional courtesy in MLB. They don't have to be beholden to any of that nonsense.
  22. You are really into Farrell's off field management. I think bringing Papelbon in would really test that. He's not a likable person and actively tries to annoy his teammates. Maybe he'd straighten up and fly right because it's his last chance? I don't see it though.
  23. The Tigers biggest issue was an owner who wanted to have a say in which players were to be signed (hello Fielder overpay). The owner there was actively going against the GM's wishes. For now, it looks like Boston's ownership group is just giving Dombrowski free reign.
  24. The Tigers were a perennial doormat before Dombrowski came on. Not really sure they are "better" without him.
  25. He'll be a plus defender in LF sometime next year. He just needs the reps. My only point is that he's not there right now.
