    Devers is plugged into the 5th hole tonight. Do you think that is a long term answer for him? Is he a longer term cleanup guy? What about hitting 2nd for now? He'd look real good after Betts.

    Either way, it seems like a weird thing to float out there. I'm pretty sure every ownership in MLB has ongoing conversations with their GM's. I think the story was put out there to add on to the DD will trade away the entire farm system narrative. I'm not a big McAdam fan. He's a fine beat writer, but I don't think he ever has any amazing insight are unique stories to provide.

    We'd have to check in with VA in terms of player attractiveness. I'm sure neither can hold a candle to Grady Sizzlemore.

    Well, there were some people calling for a much earlier promotion, both to AAA and MLB.

    @redsoxstats On @weei Dombrowski refutes the story that ownership told him not to trade top prospects. "Totally incorrect."

    Not sure that's a slate of writers that I'd pay for. As for that story, I'm sure DD takes a lot of his mandates from ownership (signing Fielder, signing Price, trading for Sale, etc.). Not sure that's a bad thing.

    Well, Eck has openly admitted it. I see it more of a strength that he's able to know his limitations and puts his family over his career. Eck standing up and saying that seems pretty admirable to me.

    @BillKoch25 Brian Johnson (left shoulder inflammation) out early throwing in the bullpen. #PawSox manager Kevin Boles said Johnson could start Saturday. Johnson could take over for Fister, but Fister will get at least one more look after his last performance.

    What is more surprising: his OWAR of 4.8 or his DWAR of 0.8? His defense isn't gold glove caliber, but it's better than advertised so far. He seems to have better range than others we have thrown over there.

    I too like signing 32 year old guys coming off career seasons that have a negative career offensive WAR.
