  1. We are who we are. Some people say that people that wilt get filtered out in the minors. I think some people just have so much more talent than other players that they will make the majors no matter what. However, once they get to the majors and their talent is equal to everyone else's, their nerves are more likely to play a major role. Also, some lights are burn brighter than others (think Melancon in Boston). Nerves may change depending on venue, importance of the game, etc.
  2. Kopech is trash.
  3. I don't remember who expressed interest. Sorry. Hope the league is more active this year!
  4. Anything can be considered a weakness. Whether it's true or not is up for debate. Someone could legitimately make a point that DD traded away too much, especially if Sale's delivery catches up to him.
  5. Whether "clutch" exists or IS up for debate. However, the fact that some people wilt under the pressure IS NOT up for debate.
  6. Thank you for finally coming to terms with this.
  7. They wanted a left handed bat damnit!
  8. Baseball Prospectus has those guys at 3, 13 and 29.
  9. Fuuuuuuck... He was great with OB last year.
  10. Yeah, should have had a front office or baseball operations pick. My bad.
  11. Pomeranz had enough of an injury history to scare away potential bidders anyway.
  12. Does it still have blackouts though?
  13. When's this s*** going down this year?
  14. It was worth it though? No one else could have pinch run in that situation! Playing station to station with Big Papi would have been too reckless!!!
  15. Just go sign Doug Fister now.
  16. I don't typically care about the other team. I don't need stats to tell me about performance for a guy on the Sox. Stats typically back up things my eyes already see. For example, it was obvious that Pedey's defense sucked in 2015 and just as obvious that he turned it around in 2016. The only understanding that I really care about is that the team with more runs will win the game. That's the only truth, everything else is just conversation.
  17. I'm not a big stat head guy, but I believe that the majority of people on here have played baseball or another sport and know enough about competition. My job is dealing with numbers and financial projections. I use baseball as an escape and don't find stats to be all that enjoyable. I'd rather just turn the game on, grab a beer and bitch about the umps.
  18. "General bias." I didn't say "everyone's bias."
  19. I'm going to disagree. The general bias on that part of stat heads is that if it can't currently be shown on fangraphs, then it can't be real.
  20. If SFF was still here, he could just ask LL directly.
  21. That's exactly why you don't DFA Brentz right now.
  22. Can't believe he came back. Weird situation and no one has dug very deap into the story.
  23. It means they are a punch and judy hitter. - David Ortiz
  24. If he doesn't make the MLB roster out of ST, he retires. He isn't going to play at Pawtucket.
