  1. Thanks for posting this. I'll donate during their June drive.
  2. Catcher. If he develops his defensive game this year in Pawtucket, he could have a long career starting for the Sox. If he is transitioned to LF, his bat will not play. If he is transitioned to 3B, he'll play until Devers (a guy with a better bat and better glove) kicks him off the position.
  3. I thought you'd say "Porcello, because he will never have an ERA under 4.50 ever again." I guessed wrong. Hope fatherhood is treating you well!
  4. He's a #9 hitter right now after a year off. The best spot for him professionally as well as for the organization is at C.
  5. He made $507,500 last year (league minimum). Maybe he'd be owed 2017 league minimum of $535,000?
  6. Especially when Price said that after he heard it was a best case scenario that he just stopped listening. When people are posting that they will only listen to what Dr Andrews said, it's kinda weird that it's all being funneled through Price who is a very biased source. There's no comment from even the Sox training staff. There is a huge difference between hoping that Price will be ok and knowing that he'll be ok. All Jacko has said is that there may be an underlying problem. Seems obvious enough to me.
  7. What did Andrews say exactly? I haven't seen any quotes from him. This is what Price said about it: "It (the strain) is in the muscle. I know that," Price said. "I don't know. As soon as they said it was not as bad as they thought it would be and do it on your program, I just kind of shut my hearing off. I didn't want to hear anything else." The only take away was that "it's not as bad as the dr's thought it could have been." Once (if?) he resumes throwing next week, maybe we'll have a better idea then.
  8. http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3506 There are protections for injured players and players on bereavement or paternity leave. Abad doesn't fall in any of those categories, so he could be outrighted or dfa'd without repercussion.
  9. Yes, he's guaranteed to get paid based on the terms of his contract. Yes, he could be cut without warning.
  10. Jacko has a hit or miss track record when it comes to talent evaluation. However, he has always been as unbiased as possible when it comes to injuries. Yeah, it's annoying that he loves to be the first to post about a Sox injury. Yeah, he probably relishes in our misery if a top player goes down. His track record with respect to player injuries is second to none. He flat out knows what he's talking about. My guess is that the story gets a lot bigger 10 days from now when Price goes back for further evaluation.
  11. The Red Sox could cut him for any reason or for no reason at all. There is no way the CBA has any language that protects a player's roster spot in that manner.
  12. Steve Lyons is the worst.
  13. Beni still swinging well.
  14. Nah, he knows what he's talking about with the medical stuff.
  15. I agree. This just doesn't feel like a short term issue to me.
  16. Maybe he just wasn't that good? His 2013 was a fluke.
  17. https://twitter.com/ScottLauber/status/837776631485718528 Rest and treatment for 7 to 10 days. No surgery.
  18. http://nesn.com/2017/02/nesn-announces-2017-red-sox-spring-training-coverage-plans/ Nope, but there's a game on tomorrow AND Sunday. Woot!
  19. People are speculating that it's a great sign that Price is heading back to ST, rather than going straight to Andrews' office in Pensacola or to MGH. We'll see...
  20. This.
  21. Today, Beni is 4 for 4 with 2 2bs and a HR. Guess we can ignore the early hiccups.

  23. If you could stash him in AAA until he gets over his injury, he'd be an interesting piece. He was decent enough before the injury bug got him again last year. He's just a guy that struggles to stay healthy.
