As for that story, I'm sure DD takes a lot of his mandates from ownership (signing Fielder, signing Price, trading for Sale, etc.). Not sure that's a bad thing.
Well, Eck has openly admitted it. I see it more of a strength that he's able to know his limitations and puts his family over his career. Eck standing up and saying that seems pretty admirable to me.

Brian Johnson (left shoulder inflammation) out early throwing in the bullpen. #PawSox manager Kevin Boles said Johnson could start Saturday.
Johnson could take over for Fister, but Fister will get at least one more look after his last performance.
What is more surprising: his OWAR of 4.8 or his DWAR of 0.8?
His defense isn't gold glove caliber, but it's better than advertised so far. He seems to have better range than others we have thrown over there.
