  1. See, JD can play OF.
  2. Hope he likes Federal Hill.
  3. @jcmccaffrey Spent the day in Fort Myers with Dustin Pedroia as he works out in extended spring training. He's expecting to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on May 12 and is targeting May 25 as his return date to the Red Sox.
  4. I put it in the wrong thread...
  5. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2018/03/10/contract-keeps-rusney-castillo-minor-league-limbo/efIg6waR2S6RsxB4rKF3LK/story.html But trading Castillo would almost certainly require the Red Sox paying off a significant amount of his remaining contract. That money would then count against their luxury tax payroll.
  6. Bye Pomeranz. Bye JBJ. Keep Kimbrel.
  7. If we trade Castillo, can we cover part of his salary and not have it go towards the luxury tax?
  8. @redsoxstats Ty Buttrey has 21 K and 3 BB in 9.1 IP in the Pawtucket bullpen. Jalen Beeks is at 37 K and 6 BB in 19.2 IP in the rotation. Both were added to the 40-man roster and presumably will debut at some point this season. I'd like to see Beeks start, but he's probably going to pitch out of the BOS pen this year. Buttrey could be a gem. The only guy with a real closer skillset.
  9. If you philosophy is to not employ the best closer you can sign, it's not a philosophy I'd sign up for.
  10. I think it's clear to me that they are going to trade Swihart before the AS Break if not sooner.
  11. Castillo is hitting .775 OPS in PAW. He's going to have to mash to make the big league roster. He's a career .679 OPS in the bigs which is lower than JBJ's career numbers. In AAA, he's a .290/11/59 guy with 20 SB's. That's not enough to carry him at the big league level for his price tag.
  12. Also often filled with mediocre options that don't provide the value that Kimbrel does. I'd rather a defined closer than a crapshoot which 2013 was (you'd really have to add together the salaries of Bailey, Uehara and Hanrahan).
  13. He's spent more time adjusting his stance than anyone else in recent memory. The problem may be that he works on it too much. He's a fine player, but his bat is going to keep his FA $ low.
  14. The success rate for pitchers with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is dismal. Thornburg and Smith are probably not the answers. Maybe DD thinks they have a guy in the minors that can do it? I'd rather just sign Kimbrel.
  15. Nunez will be fine once he goes back to being a bench option when Pedey returns. He's just not an everyday player.
  16. JBJ is slumping because he's not concerned about job security (even though he's the first guy to sit on the bench when JD plays OF).
  17. Happy Bday Wally!
  18. Kimbrel is good. Pay him.
  19. Sandy Sandy Sandy has done it again
  20. JD can hit tho
  21. Pay Kimbrel
  22. Zero. Phantom DL. Options?
  23. Same dumbasses woulda complained about Mookie’s chain in the 80’s.
