  1. @timbritton Ortiz on Devers: “He reminds me of myself a lot.” Called him “MVP caliber.”
  2. Lauber looking to get a kickback? Not sure why Sox shouldhave it in their best interests to bid against themselves.
  3. Revenue sharing and the luxury tax are different things tho.
  4. @jcmccaffrey Ortiz also said he sees a little of himself in Rafael Devers
  5. Since TalkSox was born: 3 WS championships. They hadn't had any in over 80 years until we came along.
  6. It's pretty disrespectful of DD to do this since we are basically the FO's think tank.
  7. A good read on why the FA is a little slow this year. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/01/19/free-agent-market-jd-martinez-eric-hosmer-jake-arrieta-yu-darvish
  8. That's not what a conflict of interest is tho.
  9. It's hard to say right now. I think the biggest factor is the dumb luxury tax threshold. I understand having one, but I think the threshold should be much higher. A lower threshold will depress wages (and we all know our cable bills or tickets or concessions aren't getting cheaper).
  10. I think it's FA's that set the market, not trades or IFA's.
  11. It is showing a -17 dWAR for Rusney. People on here were saying he had a good glove? That's a weird projection TBH since he was never a - dWAR guy in MLB.
  12. Neither were traditional FA signings.
  13. Just need one domino to fall.
  14. No, I HAVE WORK TO DO. Good day, sir.
  15. No I don’t.
  16. Trying to play devil's advocate, but poorly.
  17. Mo Vaughn was only an inch taller.
  18. Valentin was actually a good defender tho (and 6 ft tall)?
  19. @PeteAbe #RedSox injury updates: * Pedroia cleared to run. But plan remains a cautious build to MLB games in May/June. * Rodriguez and Wright throwing. Wright, as expected, further along in his program and would be Opening Day ready. Rodriguez more mid-April.
  20. Season over. Beni cut his hair.
  21. What's wrong about getting excited over something?
  22. Or maybe he'll just flame out like other big bopping MILBers like the Peter O'Brien's of the world.
  23. If he was a college bat that didn't perform until his 4th season, it could be an issue of a "fluke season". Guys drafted out of HS typically don't rocket through the system and have no adjustment period. He's only 22.
  24. Here's another guy who struck out more than he hit: http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=592450#/career/R/hitting/2017/ALL At Chavis' current age, this guy was still in A and hit less HR's.
  25. I don't think many people expect him to be on the opening day roster. I think people just think that if he can repeat his performance in AAA, that we could see him in the second half.
