Not unless he can hit like 2016 again. Even then, it might have to be a package deal.
If DD can pluck the right prospects, it may be a better bet to go that route instead.
Picture it this way:
After decades of the Cards winning World Series after World Series and the Cubs being a laughing stock, how would Cubbies fans feel if the Cards start sucking s*** for a while? Wouldn't Cubs fans be able to be more dismissive of Cardinals fan swagger and the belief that STL is the best baseball town? Wouldn't Cubs be more empowered to look down on Cards fans after being s*** on by them for decades and decades?
Now picture that x 10 since Sox and Yankees fans commingle on a daily basis.
When a guy was on and off the dl last year with elbow issues, I'm not surprised if they start having numbness in their fingers the next year. He's going to have a long DL stint again this year most likely. I don't think the weather was the issue. I think the health of his arm was the issue.
And if JBJ is still OPS'ing below 600 next month, we'll probably see people thinking he needs to be gone. The only problem is that RIGHT NOW, nobody is clamoring for him to get out of here.
I think people last year were stating that they should have traded him after his big 2016 season when his stock was never higher. His stock wasn't exactly very high this past offseason.
Bradley has started the season swinging at more pitching in the zone and fewer pitches out of the zone. There are a lot of other good indications for JBJ, but it's still early.
If he can get that K% under 20, I'll be very happy. I think his production last year is probably his floor. If he can at least maintain that, he's good with me.
