  1. I don't want a .500 OPS guy playing 3b.
  2. They can keep whoever they want to. If they only keep 1/2, it's because they didn't think it was good value to keep the other 1/2.
  3. I think Kinsler signs a short term deal for about 7.5AAV.
  4. I've thought since day 1 that they were really just limiting his innings. He's looked pretty good lately. He'll be ready to go for when the games really count.
  5. How about a little doom to go with your gloom?
  6. David Ortiz played SS once too.
  7. Pedroia is going to give it another go next year. If that falls apart again, he'll most likely retire. We'll see him next spring. It's not like we have a great replacement at 2b ready to go in the minors.
  8. ftfy
  9. We don't necessarily need a catcher that can rake, but it would be nice to have one that wasn't an automatic out. Why'd you leave Yogi Berra out of your list? Posey? Posada? Molina?
  10. This just adds to my hypothesis that baseball players are the dumbest of all big 4 professional sports.
  11. Ok, so offense doesn't matter for C or CF. At what point does offense matter? How many black holes is a lineup able to carry?
  12. This is a chicken or egg scenario. Not sure there is a definitive answer.
  13. At 200 min PA's, Sandy and Vaz have the 2nd worst and 3rd worst fWAR's for catchers, respectively. That's a number that tries to include both defense AND offense because they BOTH kinda matter.
  14. It amazes me that whenever someone wants to talk about offense you always deflect to defense like it's the ONLY part of baseball. I'm not sure there is anyone on here who "only see(s) offense in baseball." Sandy and Vaz have the same fWAR. It's not as night and day as some people make it out to be. Also, the Sox have basically wrapped the regular season up and there isn't that much to talk about on a slow Friday at work.
  15. No evidence he ever did roids. But there is evidence that he had brain worms. https://deadspin.com/5873047/nomar-garciaparra-tried-to-convince-astronauts-the-moon-landing-was-fake-and-other-stories-from-six-years-in-red-sox-pr • In 2003, after the explosion of the space shuttle Columbia, the Red Sox invited two astronauts to come throw out the first pitch. The game was delayed by rain, and the astronauts huddled in the dugout waiting. Nomar Garciaparra approached Bailey asking who the two women were. When told they were astronauts, he had some questions. "Hey," Nomar replied, "I saw this show on Fox that said we never really went to the moon. The whole thing was faked. Can I talk to her about that?" "Sure," I said, eager to witness this conversation. Coleman diplomatically handled the inquiry from Nomar. "I've heard about that," she said, "but it would have to be an enormous conspiracy." "Did you see the show?" he quickly rejoined. "It was really convincing…. I don't know." She hadn't seen the show and looked plaintively at me as other players began to join the conversation. "Hey," I said, trying to change the subject. "Cady is going to spend six months on the International Space Station. Talk about training for the big show." Intrigued, Nomar asked about the size of the space station. "It's really big," Coleman said. "Is it as big as Fenway Park?" Nomar asked. "No, not that big," Coleman replied. Then she started looking around for ways to illustrate the dimensions of the orbiting vehicle."How far is it from home plate to first base?" she finally asked. About six players yelled in unison: "Ninety feet." "It's about that size," she told them. "That's not big," Nomar said. "That's small."
  16. At 3 years, how can you go wrong? I wouldn't give him 5, but 3 seems very reasonable.
  17. Since coming back, Vaz has a 611 OPS. Blake's OPS over that time frame is 517. Sandy's is 000.
  18. He had a good game last night. He was the starter going into the season.
  19. We'll have to see if Vazquez can win his job back in the next 2 weeks.
  20. Closers are notoriously up and down. Kimbrel's "down" year was 2016. I think he's the exception to the rule.
  21. I'd rather have Lindor, but Bogey is in the conversation.
  22. 1. Ok. 2. They can keep everyone the want to. (Can't forget about Bogey) 3. Thanks Ben for giving us IFA penalties. 4. Ok? Depends on who you want traded and if they have an in house replacement. 5. Mid level players give us mid level results at inflated prices.
