  1. 4:30 game time! 1. Alex Verdugo LF 2. Rafael Devers 3B 3. J.D. Martinez DH 4. Mitch Moreland 1B 5. Kevin Pillar RF 6. Kevin Plawecki C 7. Jonathan Arauz 2B 8. Jackie Bradley CF 9. Jose Peraza SS Starting Pitcher : Kyle Hart Glasnow going for the Rays
  2. @kileymcd Sources: MLB is facilitating an Alternate Site video/data sharing system for clubs, with opt-in to share/receive. Will increase odds of trades leading up to the August 31st trade deadline, as Alternate Sites were a black box of information. There's separate opt-ins for both data and video, as some Alternate Sites are limited in what the facility can accommodate. Clubs were instructed to share whatever info is recorded. Indications are about 2/3 of clubs have opted-in. Data/video flow to clubs hasn't started yet.
  3. @byJulianMack Sox have sent down Robert Stock in order to activate Kyle Hart. There will be a bullpen day tomorrow and Eovaldi on Saturday. Bogaerts getting a day off today. Fatigue/tightness in lower half. Will be back in lineup tomorrow. Available to hit tonight. Josh Taylor has a chance to be activated at some point during the Yankee series. Hernandez could join team shortly after Taylor.
  4. It's hard for me to fault Bloom for this year. At best, they'd be .500. I think the decision to cut payroll and be stuck with old contracts is due to ownership.
  5. If Bogey leaves he's a traitor. If he stays he's complacent. Quite the conundrum.
  6. That bit about Cole and Bauer would be good for the rivalry.
  7. It probably is. I think that's a problem that will take a few years to fix. If it was easy to get a great starting pitching pipeline, everyone would have one.
  8. Well, he couldn't re-sign Mookie or bring in other FA's if the owner won't open his checkbook.
  9. He traded 60 games of Mookie for years of control for Verdugo/Downs/Wong. Seems ok to me.
  10. Hader is still a reliever, correct? If you are moving Devers, you need starting pitching.
  11. The worst in recent history was the 2019 O's. It remains to be seen if the Sox will be worse.
  12. 1. Don't trade players when they are struggling because the return wouldn't be as good as you need it to be. 2. I think JD and Devers are both struggling because of the changes to how the hitting coaches can interact with players and the limited interaction with legal in game video. 3. Also, this short season is really going to pronounce streaks both good and bad. The end of the year leader boards will probably look really weird this year.
  13. If they are going to trade for pitching, it'll most likely be high upside young arms. Really hard to trade for AS caliber arms.
  14. Austin Brice: not good
  15. “Arauz probably limited to 2b due to lack of arm strength”
  16. NESN feed is normal. Maybe the Rays announcers just surround themselves with hundreds of crickets?
  17. It sounds like there are thousands of cicadas at Fenway
  18. Watching the Rays feed.
  19. @ChrisCotillo Three of the pitchers the Red Sox were highest on entering the season have now been optioned: Weber, Hall and Springs.
  20. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox call up Robert Stock from Pawtucket and option Jeffrey Springs to the alternate site.
  21. @alexspeier Roenicke says both Benintendi and Verdugo would prefer to hit second, and team is continuing to try to find best lineup composition. He liked Benintendi leading off and Verdugo second based on pinch-hitting possibilities late in game.
  22. @redsoxstats Chavis getting his first start at 2B today, Arauz back at 3B. Benny back leading off.
  23. The Guardians announced today that right-handers Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger have been placed on the restricted list. Both pitchers violated the league’s health and safety protocols over the weekend when they went out after Saturday night’s game. In a pair of corresponding moves, Cleveland reinstated outfielder Tyler Naquin from the injured list and recalled lefty Logan Allen from the team’s alternate training site.
