  1. Godley is a grunter apparently
  2. Who is the dipshit announcer?
  3. I get lip from Yankees and Rays fans down here. Lame. Yes, the Yankees fans are always worse.
  4. Opening Day! Eovaldi vs Means
  5. Yeah, at least the tailgating would be cool.
  6. Canadian government isn’t allowing the Blue Jays to play in Toronto. I hope they enjoy scenic Buffalo!
  7. Yanks kinda sucked in the 80’s. I was always more anti-Met until the day my father asked “what’s you second favorite team?” He said it has to be anyone but the Yankees. To me, the Sox slayed that dragon in 04.
  8. That’s when you know you have a problem.
  9. Yup. Goes back to the Pedro/Gerald Williams game.
  10. Godley’s prior 3 years is far superior to Clay’s. Plus, he probably works quicker too.
  11. I wonder if Godley will just be used the first two weeks while ERod is still getting ready. Move him to pen after? Let him go if it doesn’t work.
  12. @redsoxstats Looks like the Sox spent $120,100 over their draft pool allotment. I believe their penalty for that is a 75% tax on overage, so $90K.
  13. @IanCundall We had heard about Poyner and Ockimey earlier, but the Red Sox have also added C Jhonny Pereda and RHP RJ Alvarez. Assuming Godley signs, once Eduardo Rodriguez, Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor come off the COVID-IL they will have a full 60-man player pool. No Casas. No Ward. No Jimenez.
  14. @joonlee The trade of Mookie Betts and David Price left the Red Sox with a leadership void in the clubhouse. With his multi-lingual background and perennially upbeat attitude, Xander Bogaerts finds himself in a natural position to step up in the age of COVID https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29423039/red-sox-xander-bogaerts-ready-leader-age-covid-19
  15. @PeteAbe Red Sox now have all their picks signed. @shane_dro Officially a Boston Red Sox, but I will forever be a Seminole!!
  16. Yup, really rough go of it when they drafted Lester/Paplebon/Buchholz. Also, those 4 flags they got look pretty good.
  17. @SPChrisHatfield Just realized this: Based on our current roster projection (https://bit.ly/2YExycJ) the only guys they could DFA to make room would be the five guys they just added to protect from R5 (Dalbec, Chatham, Hart, Aybar, Wilson), Valdez, Shawaryn, and Osich. Not a long list. Maybe a trade in the works? Padres just made a trade with the Royals.
  18. He was the #1 HS prospect for 2021. He reclassed and decided to graduate HS early. I'm not sure he's "fringe first round." If he was signed by the Yanks, you'd be doing backflips over the guy.
  19. So maybe less than 1 run difference over 60 games?
  20. @IanCundall Seems like the Red Sox will be making several moves in the next few days as they look to finalize their opening day roster. If both Brian Johnson and Jonathan Lucroy make the team and they sign Zack Godley, they will need to open up two 40-man spots as they are currently at 39.
  21. Moncada is off IL after previously testing positive for COVID. Unsure if he'll be ready for next Friday.
  22. Austin Meadows on IL due to positive COVID test. He had been held out of practice for a while, so I'm guess he either directly knows someone who is sick or wasn't feeling well himself.
  23. Per @byJulianMack , Josh Ockimey and Bobby Poyner will be added to the 60-man player pool tomorrow along with previously announced Mata, Houck, Duran, Downs, and Groome. Clear focus on MLB-ready guys here, along with Groome, who is Rule 5 Draft-eligible this offseason. Did anyone have Ockimey on their bingo card? Not me.
  24. Clearly pitching is a bigger issue.
  25. Only 4 teams had over 900 runs last year. The Sox were one of them. Maybe the Yanks are marginally better, but it remains to be seen what effect a short season has.
