  1. Andriese is one of the better options in the pen IMO. Who of value would it force out? Who does keeping Whitlock force out? We're not talking about some behemoth of a roster. Losing some of the lower end guys won't meaningfully impact this season.
  2. I mean, if he can shotput a ball the way a boy on my daughter's tball team does, that'd be something... Maybe they'll end every regular season game with a relay race against the other team?
  3. Archer is also replacing Charlie Morton, Jalen Beeks and Yonny Chirinos.
  4. This team is a total yawn. Bloom should be fired. I'm no longer going to be a fan unless they can sign NOMAR MAZARA. I firmly believe that this player with less than 2 career fWAR in 579 games is going to make this team not be a yawn. That 90 WRC+ is going to be a ratings boon for NESN. His meager HR totals, bad baserunning and bad fielding are going to make this such an exciting team. He's the guy for sure.
  5. And if they do DFA Brice, it won't be until the very end of spring training, in hopes that they can sneak him onto the WOO roster.
  6. If Seabold and Mata are both pitching, it means their development has been pretty damn good this year. Bloom has shown a willingness to go with AAAA guys for an extended period of time. He's not going to rush someone like Mata.
  7. Also, he's spent over 100 days on the IL/DL since coming here in 2018. He's hit the 60 day IL/DL every year since 2016 except for last year's truncated season.
  8. Taylor was impacted by COVID. It was also a very small sample size with control issues and abnormal HR/FB and LOB rates. However, he has options and doesn't have a long track record of success at the MLB level. Having him start in WOO for a month isn't the end of the world. These things always sort themselves out. Someone is going to greatly underperform. Someone else is going to get injured. I'd say it's more important to look at your top 16 guys rather than worry about the 13 guy cutoff.
  9. Taylor may start in AAA as well. He didn't pitch all that well lest year.
  10. #RedSox CF prospect Jarren Duran in the Caribbean Series for Caguas through 6 games: 9x23 7 runs 2 RBI 3x3 SBs 3 BB, 7 K 3 XBHs (2B, 3B, HR) Puerto Rico (5-1) plays for the title tonight vs. Aguilas of the DR. Sox coach Ramon Vazquez manages PR
  11. 86 wins with this squad? As long as health of staff isn’t worse than we expect it to be.
  12. Embarrassing
  13. Who expected him earlier?
  14. @JonHeyman Bauer to Dodgers
  15. Universal DH and expanded playoffs creates exactly 0 new jobs.
  16. @JonHeyman Mets offer to Trevor Bauer said to be frontloaded with the opt-outs. About $40M at least in 1st year, via @Joelsherman1 with opt-out. Dodgers Bauer offer unknown but they offered similar structure — $40M/year with rolling opt-outs to Bryce Harper. They can compete.
  17. @jonmorosi Jake Odorizzi is drawing broad interest, and his market could crystallize once Trevor Bauer signs. The Angels, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Giants, and Twins have been in contact, sources say, with the Mets a possibility if they don’t sign Bauer. @MLBNetwork @MLB
  18. If the bottom of the pen is Valdez and Whitlock, it's not the end of the world.
  19. Then why didn't they counter after Mookie said $400M?
  20. Agreed on all fronts.
  21. So he either thinks the core isn't ready for another run just yet OR he doesn't like what is available on the market right now.
  22. If those 3 all get AB's this year, it means our prospect pipeline is running well. They aren't going to bring those guys up unless the issue is forced (i.e. not win/loss %).
  23. If they can have the Super Bowl go on as scheduled, they can allow for Spring Training with reduced attendance.
  24. Again, the only reason the season was delayed last year was because of local ordinances that forbid gatherings of 20+ people. That's not the case now.
