  1. I don't think he's expecting to make a big postseason run this year. I think he expects the team to win 86ish games. He's going to sign 1-2 SP FAs. He's going to fill out the bullpen better. Just don't expect the standings to look like 2016-2018.
  2. How often was he in public aside from sightings at games on NESN?
  3. Ah yes, but you see, their projected WAR is the highest in the AL. He doesn't really have to be worried!
  4. 1/2 way through September
  5. Most likely, the Rays don't see Kiermaier as a negative value guy and aren't going to dump him for a C level minor leaguer.
  6. Not going to happen.
  7. s***, sign him for 3. That's a lot moolah though.
  8. They won't sign Bradley or Hand. Maybe they sign a 2b. If they do, it's someone who can also play OF (Profar/Gordon).
  9. Well, it's just straight taken from Latin so there probably is a proper way to say it. I wasn't one of those aholes that took Latin in high school so I can't really comment.
  10. That sanction is a large part of why the farm system is abysmal right now.
  11. Finding Snell turns that draft from a dog to "ok"
  12. Need to add the /s or
  13. KEVIN KIERMAIER OF, TAMPA BAY RAYS According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the chances of a Kevin Kiermaier trade "probably aren't great." Bob Nightengale of MLB Network reported Monday that Kiermaier was "next on the trade block" for the Rays after they shipped former AL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell to the Padres, but Heyman notes that Tampa Bay loves the rangy center fielder "for the clubhouse and defense" even though he has underwhelmed offensively since signing a five-year, $53 million extension with the team in March 2017. We'll see.
  14. Ben got us sanctioned that way too.
  15. I've heard that word pronounced 3 different ways: bone-uh-fIdEEs bone-uh-fEEdess bon-uh-fIdes And they are apparently all correct?
  16. Bloom wasn't calling the shots in Tampa though.
  17. I think we assume that his style is that way, but we won't really know for a few years. I think Theo did the best job at building a strong farm system while staying in contention. If things didn't fall apart for him in 2011, maybe he would have been a part of another Sox run.
  18. Like has been mentioned elsewhere, nearly 75% of the FA market remains unsigned. There's a long way to go for this offseason. We haven't even begun to fight about the Carlos Hi Ho Silvas of the world yet! My guess is Bloom signs 4 more MLB contract guys (CF, SP, 2 RPs) and 5 more MiLB contract guys.
  19. And his persona.
  20. If the Sox signed him for that, I'd have to go throw up in a trash can.
  21. Hard to really say what Bloom's style is. He spent last offseason slashing payroll because of ownership mandate. Now, he's stuck in a weird offseason where teams are expecting a depressed market and don't know how many games will be played or if fans will even be in attendance in certain cities.
  22. There are 111 pitchers still available, 68 relievers and 43 starters. Notable starters available: Archer Arrieta Bailey Bauer Foltynewicz Hamels Happ Hill Kluber Leake Lester Odorizzi Paxton Martin Perez Porcello Quintana Richards Rodon Ross Samardzija Shoemaker Sugano Tanaka Walker Wood Zimmerman Some of those guys are a little long in the tooth or have health concerns, but I think you could still round out your rotation with them if you're signing for depth.
  23. Per MLBTradeRumors: 73 out of 289 FAs have been signed or 25%. Lots of guys left and we've been saying all along that Bloom will most likely wait until later in the offseason to make his moves as he will try to be buying low in a depressed market.
  24. I heard that BOH is calling all the shots and Bloom is just a fall guy.
  25. I think he's just agreeing that other teams would be more apt to go for Contreras than Vazquez so that it would be harder to move Vazquez.
