Over the past 5 years, Berrios is 18th in fWAR and Hendricks is 21st. Both have about 720 innings pitched. Most of their other stats are fairly close together. I don't think you can look at them and say that Berrios is by far the superior pitcher.

Three AL East teams have been the most active pursuers of Twins star José Berríos — Jays, Rays and Red Sox. A fourth, the Yankees, also checked. At least 6 teams in.
He's young, but... He's not a high k guy. 5.13 xERA. Has pitched poorly since June 1. His pitches don't have much movement on them.
Not sure that's enough for me to make that move.
If you trade for Hosmer, you essentially have him through 2025. Why would you want him.

Is he really having a "down year" or is that just who he is? He's not great defensively. He's average (at best) offensively. That's not a guy you get locked into long term.
