  1. His career WRC+ is now at 97. His torrid short sample from last year skewed lots of expectations. Whiff% is bottom 1% of the league. His BB% is bottom 6%. He's not making contact and not even showing the batter's eye he once had. He just can't hit fastballs. The only thing that could factor in differently (if at all) is that his expected HR total is much lower than his actual total for 2021.
  2. I think they should find a LHB with a decent glove at 1B. Worked well for the 04 team.
  3. I don't remember hearing them going to closer by committee at all this year. It was Barnes' job to lose, but they could go to Ottavino depending on matchups. I'm not sure that's really "closer by committee."
  4. 3.77 ERA for a reliever isn't that great IMO.
  5. Dalbec isn't the weakest link though. Right now, it's Santana. I think there is reason for concern with Dalbec though. You can't have a starting 1B hit like this.
  6. His skillset in A ball was to get the ball in play and use his blazing speed to get on base. This is similar to how Jimenez is right now. It is a skillset, but one that doesn't translate to MLB. If the power is real and he can keep the k% in check (big question), he should be fine in MLB. If his glove was a finished product may there'd be less hesitation.
  7. Interesting that he didn't test the market. Maybe he saw the sign of the contract and figured that was enough. Must be happy here. Isn't he from CT?
  8. I agree on Sale, Santana and Dalbec. I'm not really sure where they are at with Houck. The bullpen has been pretty good. Not sure they need to break the bank there.
  9. If that's the price, I'm out. Unless they believe Duran's numbers are inflated by the Worcester launching pad.
  10. @redsoxstats The Dominican Summer League opens play this morning, weather permitting. Red Sox will have two teams in the league with lots of breakout candidates to track. Luis Perales throws upper 90s with a big curve. Miguel Bleis and Juan Chacon in the OF, Enderso Lira at C, got big money.
  11. He was solid 2017-19. He stunk last year and that really stuck with most people. He's having a career year so far. We'll have to see if he can keep it up.
  12. I don't wish injury on any current Yankees. I just wish them to be slightly worse than the Sox.
  13. If he went to FA, he gets more money IMO. Good deal.
  14. 0-2 while I was in Boston. I won't be back for a while.
  15. And if you really need to fill a slot, it makes no sense to wait until the last second to do it.
  16. Not enough control to put in Duran. It'd have to be a guy like Jimenez IMO.
  17. I think he's been better than those people projected. He's had some implosions, but that happens with almost every closer.
  18. Not for a year and a half of control
  19. He started off slow, but really picked it up after the first month. Not surprising for a HS player who hadn't played in a meaningful game in a year and a half.
  20. It's in the Yankees forum. What's the problem?
  21. He could hit 10 hr a season and a plus glove and plus hit tool is good enough at that position.
  22. Every hitter has to make some sort of adjustment. If he was picked early, there's a good chance he'll figure it out.
  23. I think we should temper expectations. I'd still have Casas ahead of him on a prospect ranking.
  24. The weight thing is hyperbole, right?
  25. Another AAAA arm in case of injury. I don’t think they saw some hidden feature we don’t know about.
