  1. @alexspeier Tyler McDonough is from the famous Moeller (Ohio) HS program - which produced Griffey and Larkin. He hit .339/.423/.631 with 15 homers and 37 XBH in 55 games this year for NC State.
  2. Fabian: "I have been dreaming of this day ever since I was a kid, and I could not be more excited to be drafted by the Boston Red Sox organization... I look forward to the next chapter and will push myself to develop both on and off the field." Saying the right things. Maybe not going to beat up the Sox over slot money?
  3. The safe picks rarely worked out for the Sox. I don't like that strategy at all.
  4. If they already reset, it seems weird to call this year a reset as well. Just say that they don't want to go over the luxury tax threshold.
  5. Dalbec is 26, not 23-24. There's not much more room for improvement IMO.
  6. Once the book got around on Dalbec, he struggled to adjust. The first few weeks of his career are the aberration. His OPS is not good enough for 1B.
  7. So bye to Cash and Boone then? It was a good run.
  8. As Sox fans, we are getting used to the swing and miss.
  9. So contract weren't suppressed last offseason?
  10. @MikeMonaco_ Jud Fabian to the Red Sox in the 2nd round. Big upside. Homered twice off Jack Leiter in a span of two ABs earlier this year.
  11. @MLBDraft With the 40th pick, the @RedSox select @GatorsBB outfielder Jud Fabian, No. 23 on the Top 250 Draft Prospects list.
  12. Casas hasn't hit a HR since May.
  13. Casas' OPS has fallen off recently. If Mayer shows up and has an OPS above 850 in Salem, that should jump him above Casas unless Casas starts to absolutely mash.
  14. Proximity is why Casas has the edge. Ceiling wise, Mayer is #1 for sure.
  15. Decent is more than $8M? I thought contracts were going to be suppressed due to COVID.
  16. I know you keep harping on those 2020 numbers, but you can throw those out.
  17. Didn't they already reset last year?
  18. I remember people discussing Schoop in the offseason. He doesn't break the bank.
  19. Career 687. Has a 518 OPS against this season. His second best is 624. His OPS against is best on the team followed by Ottavino at 574 and Whitlock at 618. Nobody else is under 650. League average is 729.
  20. @SPChrisHatfield Paul Toboni said (Mayer) will likely get his feet wet in the Florida Complex League this year at first. I'd think he'll get up to Low-A Salem at some point this year. Next year starts in Salem most likely. Slight chance they get aggressive and start him in High-A Greenville. We'll know more about where to slot Mayer after this season, but I still think he'd be behind Casas unless he absolutely mashes in Salem.
  21. Fan_since_Boggs proven to be a McCoy.
  22. Until he can perform in A ball, I'd have him behind Casas.
  23. Like I said, I believe that was hyperbole.
  24. I'm not sure a big deal needs to be made.
  25. But why should your 1b be the weakest hitter. It just doesn't make sense. It should be the easiest slot to put a bat in. The rotation is what it is for this year. I don't think they are going to trade for anyone. I hope they can figure it out for 2022.
