  1. It’s what the beat writers have said.
  2. 1. Hunter Renfroe RF 2. Kyle Schwarber LF 3. J.D. Martinez DH 4. Xander Bogaerts SS 5. Rafael Devers 3B 6. Bobby Dalbec 1B 7. Alex Verdugo CF 8. Christian Vazquez C 9. Jonathan Arauz 2B
  3. Sox have about the lowest vaxx rate in MLB
  4. Renfroe going to hit a go ahead HR today.
  5. This game will do MASSIVE ratings.
  6. It certainly feels like it.
  7. Brad F'N Peacock vs Yarbrough Sox have 5 guys out with COVID (Kiké, Arroyo, Sawamura, Barnes, Perez) and a 6th out for close contact (Taylor). Quite the auspicious way to begin their run to the Wild Card Game. I read the tea leaves today and good signs all around!
  8. @byJulianMack Red Sox current COVID cases: Kiké Hernández: positive Christian Arroyo: positive Matt Barnes: positive Martín Pérez: positive Sawamura: positive Strength and Conditioning coach Kiyoshi Momose: positive Ramón Vázquez: positive Josh Taylor: close contact Tom Goodwin: close contact
  9. @SmittyOnMLB Espinal is back on the taxi squad for the Red Sox Espinal OUT!
  10. @IanMBrowne Sawamura has tested positive. Good. Great.
  11. Anyway, season saved: @TomCaron Brad Peacock starting tonight for the #RedSox. He went 5.1 for Columbus (AAA) on Friday night, meaning he's going on three-days rest.
  12. Plawecki will be gone sooner than later. Wong doesn't seem to be good. Bazardo wasn't already in the system? The Ottavino deal was questionable since they were trying to stay under the cap AND it helped the Yanks. Rios/Munoz/RHern/Valdez don't move the needle for me.
  13. I didn't think they needed offensive upgrades unless they got something cheap for 1b like Schoop or Aguilar.
  14. I think they'd have a much better chance if they traded for 2 adequate relievers at the deadline. They didn't need Kimbrel at the time, just bodies not named Davis and Robles. .
  15. That's quite competent of them. Hmph...
  16. The moves above don't account for the drastic swing in win %.
  17. Would have been much higher if they didn't have Tony Clark on the roster.
  18. What are the 25 guys not in the organization prior to Bloom they added to improve the 40 man? I think Bloom has been ok. I think you are overstating what he has done this year. The good moves: Pivetta/Seabold trade Sawamura signing Whitlock Rule 5 Arauz Rule 5 Arroyo semipermanent IL fixture Kiké Renfroe Schwarber for 1.5 months (but I'd rather have Aldo)?
  19. I'm jaded by the Sox not making ANY substantial moves at the deadline for pitching and then falling flat on their faces. This team could go first to fourth in less than 2 months.
  20. @SPChrisHatfield We've now heard from multiple sources, as we've speculated, that Jay Groome is indeed being promoted to Portland for his next start, which should be Thursday or Friday.
  21. Well, the Rays should request to play all of their games on the road going forward considering what COVID is like here.
  22. Nothing has been reported.
  23. They didn't have one this year either according to some people.
  24. https://www.fangraphs.com/boxscore.aspx?date=2002-08-23&team=Red%20Sox&dh=0 In a Pedro Martinez game against the eventual WS champs LA Angels, Grady Little rolled out with a lineup of: Rickey Henderson's Corpse LF Nomar SS Manny RF Cliff Floyd DH Hillenbrand 3B Daubach 1B Tek C Trot Nixon CF Rey Sanchez 2B I'm pretty sure I have that season blacked out from my memory. That was the Tony Clark year.
