  1. Plus, the $100M is still subsidized by large market teams.
  2. 495 ft bomb.
  3. Yup, just bring this dud back next year.
  4. Why are people penciling Pivetta in for a rotation spot in 2022?
  5. Underwhelming
  6. Papelbon: 368 Saves, 8 Holds.
  7. 88%. Are we ready to say he was almost as good as Rivera? Was he better than Eck? He's definitely better than a guy like Thigpen and better than Timlin or Barnes.
  8. What doesn't make sense is looking at Save % IMO.
  9. Bobby Thigpen 79% Save %. Because his usage was primarily 9th inning, his Blown Save % is 20%. Mike Timlin 64% Save %. Because his usage was NOT primarily 9th inning, his Blown Save % is 20%. Was Thigpen a better reliever than Timlin? Was he a better closer? Not according to bWAR. On a per inning basis, Timlin was the better bWAR pitcher. So why is the Save % misleading?
  10. Lee Smith 82% Eck 85% Goose 73% Sutter 75% Hoffman 89% Rivera 89%
  11. Barnes: 24 Blown Saves 39 Saves 95 Holds His "Save %" is 62%. However, his "Blown Save %" 15%. That is, he only gives up a blown save 15% of the time. Baseball reference's Save % hurts guys who haven't been primarily closers (like Barnes) as it includes blown saves from 7th and 8th inning appearances when they would not likely get a save anyway.
  12. Cora looked at last night's boxscore and just decided to rerack today with the same lineup.
  13. You could probably get him at 15 AAV for a shorter term. Maybe 4/60?
  14. Yup. That's why the Sox will probably go well over the lux tax cap next year. Though we don't know what the CBA will look like.
  15. 1. Enrique Hernandez 2B 2. Kyle Schwarber DH 3. Xander Bogaerts SS 4. Rafael Devers 3B 5. J.D. Martinez LF 6. Alex Verdugo CF 7. Hunter Renfroe RF 8. Travis Shaw 1B 9. Christian Vazquez C
  16. There's already 47M tied up in two pitchers in the starting rotation. If ERod signs here, it'll be for more than his current 8.3M. Contracts coming off the books: ERod 8.3 Richards 8.5 Ottavino 7 Perez 4.5 Marwin 3 Beni 2.8 Pedroia reduced by 10 That's 44M to go towards FA, but need to factor in ARB raises for Devers, Pivetta and Verdugo. Maybe will have 34M to spend on FA? That can go quick if you are going for the top of the line players.
  17. Schwarber's mutual option is for 11.5M. My guess is his AAV will be higher than 10.
  18. I bet he has given at least one high five today.
  19. But the weird FanGraphs Clutch stat said so!
  20. Low Leverage: 1.30 WHIP, 3.85 xFIP, 7.56 k/9, 3.32 bb/9 Med Leverage: 1.32 WHIP, 4.01 xFIP, 7.94 k/9, 3.54 bb/9 High Leverage: 1.12 WHIP, 3.14 xFIP, 8.34 k/9, 1.67 bb/9 Seems like Richards can handle high leverage situations?
  21. Go look at David Ortiz'.
