  1. How much did Cordero's defense hurt the team? It's the point you brought up.
  2. They shouldn't have stopped him. It was was the right thing to do.
  3. There's eggnog and peppermint bark.
  4. If the team had traded for Hosmer sooner and never played Cordero at 1b, how many more wins would they have had? 1?
  5. Who said 270 innings? Only 8 pitchers threw 200 or more last season. Only one threw over 210.
  6. Bello's innings aren't impacted by the rest of the staff, the bullpen's innings are.
  7. I also am able to explain how a 250lb Santa Claus can slip down my chimney to my kids and still have time to deliver presents all over the world in one single evening.
  8. It wasn't a "bad idea" but I think they ended up using him too much in RF and waited too long in ST before they tried the experiment out. It really ended up being a last second decision. According to the below story, he didn't even start working on RF until the last two weeks of ST. That's not enough time to be ready and really put him in an unfair position. https://sports.yahoo.com/dewey-alright-sox-legend-evans-111700823.html
  9. He's not going to be on an innings limit. He may not get to 180 innings because of performance, but for moon to say "we don't want Bello throwing 180+" is silly to me. If Bello gets above 180, it's because he's having a very good year.
  10. Turner is basically DH only going forward and backup 3B. His defense is fallen off since he's almost 40. Pablo was 28 and Hanley was 31 when they signed as FA. Wendle '22: 2B 33 games SS 34 games 3B 43 games (his worst defensive stats too) Wendle comes in to platoon with Arroyo at 2B and just fill in as a UTIL guy. Story would be fulltime SS.
  11. When has an OFer ever been converted to 1B before? I can't think of one. Quite the novel idea Bloom came up with!
  12. Bello pitched 153 innings last season. Why can't he pitch 180 this year?
  13. Sign two 3B's when you only need one? Genius!
  14. They DO need to prove it on the field. Bloom needs to show that he can build a successful MLB team not just a farm system. So far, the results haven't been great!
  15. They should have signed Max instead of Price or Lester.
  16. I think it's still fair to call him that. One transaction doesn't fix the past. Extend more young guys. Build the next great team. Keep spending. However, there are quite a few people choosing to be over the top negative the past 24 hours. Especially nincompoops like James Stewart. People that don't know what 5-6-3 means. People that live absolutely miserable lives and generally earn their money off of wallowing in the misery. No matter what had happened with the Raffy situation, they would have found the negative. I just no longer have time or patience for that nonsense.
  17. I just have a hunch that they get Paxton throwing in ST, see that they have 6 starters and wind up flipping him to another team. Unless they move him to the pen? IDK. Pivetta probably has the lowest ceiling of the guys they project as starters, but you can probably count on 150 innings from him.
  18. Has anyone said that it exonerated JH or that it made up for Betts leaving? At most, people have said that they are happy they have a franchise player and that there's more work to be done. I think that's fair.
  19. If he left and signed this contract elsewhere, you'd be complaining about it everyday until the Sun swallowed the Earth.
  20. The Fellowship of the Miserable. Rick Pitino was right all along.
  21. You have said over and over that Henry has the money to afford any player he wants. But take issue with the contract size? How does that make any sense? You're mad that Henry doesn't spend. You're mad that the players make too much money. At some point, find something that makes you happy then...
  22. Sox could do a 2 for 1 deal, but no way would anyone want to do a 3 for 1 and then have to DFA 2 guys for what the Sox are giving up. More likely, the Sox are going to trade Brasier/Ort/Seabold/Dalbec for guys not on the 40 man rosters of other teams a la the Christian Koss deal. Sox probably have 5-6 guys they need to clear off the current 40 man before next season starts. DHern - DFA Ort - DFA Seabold - trade Dalbec - trade Duran - trade Paxton - trade
  23. Ferguson is not ahead of Mayer on the depth chart though. Hamilton is past the point of being able to fake it at SS. They are actively pushing him towards OF. Koss is ok at SS, but he's not going to be ready for playing time in BOS before Mayer. Honestly, Mayer has a shot to debut around the trade deadline this year. At 19, his OPS in A+ was higher than what Devers' was in A+ at the same age. Devers debuted at the deadline at age 20 the following season. I think Mayer is more likely to be a Super Two call up in 2024, but I'm not going dismiss him getting a rocket attached to him this year. Why else would they be so lax with addressing this need?
  24. The Romero money went to Anthony.
  25. WINTER HAVEN, Fla., Feb. 17 (AP) — Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox signed a three‐year contract today that may make him the highest paid player in professional baseball history. No figures were announced, but Dick O'Connell, vice presi dent and general manager of the Red Sox, said the contract made Yastrzemski “the highest paid player in the American League.” He just turned 30! We know he's on the decline! What a waste of money! He's just playing a kid's game!
