  1. Someone has to be if the Yankees won't do it anymore.
  2. The problem is the bottoming out years we've had in 12, 14, 15, 20, 22. I think the organization was supposed to be built in a manner that was to smooth out the leaner years. Too much feast or famine.
  3. Aging SP's being put on the IL wouldn't fall under "unforeseen" injuries. A bus crash? Sure.
  4. If ownership is looking to sell, they are better off NOT encumbering the team with longterm contracts.
  5. Delete GM, blow up the world.
  6. It was the people who complained about the Bloom Fan Brigade or whatever. That there were posters being paid by the Sox or whatever nonsense. That's what came first. Nobody cares if you don't like Bloom. People have always complained about the GM/CBO on here. It's a normal thing. Why would people be offended by it now?
  7. It's the easiest way for JH to save face.
  8. The source was the Sports Babe.
  9. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/padres-diamondbacks-among-teams-interested-in-xander-bogaerts.html Synopsis: Padres asked about Bogey and if he'd move off SS, Boras said no. Diamonbacks are interested as Hoyer is their GM. Cubs and Dodgers have shown some interest. Twins and Phills have shown interest as a fallback plan if Correa/Turner go elsewhere.
  10. I'm not saying those players aren't worth it!
  11. @redsoxstats A year ago at this time the Sox were reported as “one of the three main teams on Javy Baez.” That was a total fabrication by his agent to look good in a headline. The Sox were never going to sign him and were all-in trying to sign Trevor Story at the time unbeknownst to everyone.
  12. Yes, I know more about baseball than CHB. No, it doesn't bother me if people don't like Bloom. However, it does bother you if people like Bloom. I don't care about him either way.
  13. We've solved it everyone. Move Whitlock to the pen and everything is fixed!
  14. They didn't "plan" on the bad seasons, but they weren't a mirage. They are on the ledger and part of the reason everyone is frustrated.
  15. Bryce Harper: -4.8 dWAR career Giancarlo Stanton: -2.2 dWAR career 50% of the 300M contracts were bad to medicore defenders.
  16. If they let Bogey go, but the Sox play well then it's hard to complain. If they struggle again, Bloom's done for.
  17. So no matter what happens, you don't buy it. The best spin that could come out of this story is that it's just the agent saying "Bogey is ok with leaving Boston, so feel free to send us your offers everyone."
  18. If he was an above average Catcher, he'd be worth 20M, but a lot of the value is tied up in his bat. It'd be a very underwhelming replacement for the holes this team has.
  19. He's the common denominator for everything, the good and the bad. To just ignore the bad parts doesn't make sense to me. The Sox didn't have to be bad in 12 to win in 13 and bad in 14/15 in order to win in 18. Did the Sox have to be bad in 20 and 22 for their next great team? Probably not.
  20. Gammons is a fairly well regarded voice though. If it was coming from someone else, I'd give it less value. IDK. I'm concerned in so much that the Sox stated that Xander was the first priority, but it really doesn't feel like it.
  21. I think we know how that will play out. Better just trade him now IMO.
  22. From Jeff Passan: Multiple teams, sources said, worry about Contreras — who is not known for his game-calling acumen — meshing with a new pitching staff on the fly. The number of teams with World Series aspirations that could use a catching upgrade isn’t huge, but the New York Mets and Houston Astros have been in contact with the Cubs about the 30-year-old free agent-to-be, sources said, and the San Francisco Giants are poking around on catching options, too. Other teams could seek Contreras more as a bat with the ability to play catcher rather than acquiring him as a primary backstop.
  23. I know what my plan would be and it seems that the Sox plan is going to be quite different. It's a bold strategy Cotton.
  24. I think they try and piecemeal it cheaply for a few years until the young guys show up.
  25. Severing ties is just an embarrassing look for this organization.
