  1. I guarantee that JH has the final say on all of these large contract offers. Bloom isn't doing that alone. There's too much money involved.
  2. I really, really doubt Mayer sees any time in BOS this year. He has less than 100 AB's above low A. Raffy, Xander and Mookie all had 700 PA's above low A before getting to BOS. That'd be at least another full year before debuting.
  3. Now that there will be MassMutual patches on the Sox jerseys, what does the MassMutual CEO have to say about the partnership? @MikeSilvermanBB Here's Crandall's quote: "Listen, I'd love for the Red Sox to do much, much, much better in 2023 than they did in 2022 – but not that much better. Because, I hate to say it as a Yankee fan born in New York City, second place is not a bad place to be."
  4. If Rafaela was less of a free swinger, they'd probably consider moving him up in 2023. I think they'll go slower with him.
  5. Maybe ownership needs to consider the impact their nonsense has on the fanbase? Maybe they need to retain homegrown players because fans would like it? Maybe they should be less s***** sometimes?
  6. If Kiké is at SS, who is in CF?
  7. I think the Padres were just checking in and not really serious.
  8. Why would their first two targets be Abreu and a Catcher? I don't think anyone of us see those as the gapping holes that need to be filled.
  9. It would be a very s***** thing to do.
  10. Doing that would just pull the rug out from under the fanbase if they don't actually want Bogey though.
  11. The problem is that you can't always wait for the value plays as they don't always materialize.
  12. Turncoat. Some people have no loyalties.
  13. I know you were just repeating what he said, I was just wondering if what he said had any validity. The 2004 team was filled with FA's. The 2007 was mostly the same, but with Youk, Paplebon and Pedroia. Lester and Ellsbury played minor roles that season. Aside from "winning the 2010-11 offseason" I'm not sure where else Theo was feeding the monster.
  14. I think they are trying to play the market. The problem is that lately the market has just run over them.
  15. Like the Diamondbacks? What?
  16. 5) So you're saying there's a chance.gif
  17. They are at fault for letting him get to FA. At that point, he's most likely going to either cost more or will leave. The idea that "the market won't develop" seems foolhardy to me.
  18. That lousy broad! She rears her ugly head again!
  19. What's the difference between "still engaged" and "actively engaged"?
  20. @MacCerullo Sam Kennedy said there have been a lot of discussions with free agents this week and wouldn’t be surprised if certain deals were imminent. Said he expects a lot of action during the Winter Meetings. That Rich Hill deal is coming soon!
  21. Was Theo really just making excuses for 2011? Had they gone away from the model prior to that?
  22. @ChrisCotillo Sam Kennedy says Red Sox are still engaged with Xander Bogaerts and that no doors have been closed there. On the idea of Bogaerts severing ties with Red Sox: “I don’t have that impression but all we can go by is our desire to bring him back.” He hasn’t told you he’s done talking? “Nope.” Wouldn’t say if Sox will have chance to match outside offers. Sorry, but my pitchfork is still out.
  23. @ChrisCotillo Sam Kennedy says Red Sox are actively engaged with Rafael Devers. Also says the club had conversations with Jose Abreu.
  24. He had the brain aneurysm back in 2006. His typing isn't great, but I don't think he makes up stories at this point in his career. Sometimes he tweets after sitting on his phone. It's fun.
