  1. If he can play the 50% of the games that Arroyo will miss! Would this be a win if they had dealt Brasier instead of the oft injured Taylor?
  2. I guess Mondesi is the backup 2B/SS. Taylor was a good pitcher when healthy, but who knows if he'll be able to get back there this year.
  3. Taylor 2.4 Mondesi 1.5 PTBNL Bloom taken to the cleaners on a trade again. Wow...
  4. @BOSSportsGordo Many Red Sox fans wanted Josh Taylor to be non-tendered. Instead, they acquire Adalberto Mondesi and a PTBNL for him.
  5. I agree on the Beni/Renfroe deja vu and questioning both decisions. From all reports, Sox scouts have drooled over Yoshida for years. Bloom jumped at the chance to get their guy. Let's see if it works out.
  6. 1. Jon Morosi of MLB Network recently suggested the Sox would like to bring Andrus aboard as a non-roster invitee. LOL 2. Diamondbacks need a SS. 3. ChiSox need a 2b and Andrus said he'd be willing to play 2B next to Anderson. 4. Angels could be a fit. 5. Depth: Braves, Rockies
  7. Late inning arm this year? I can see it.
  8. Andrus could retire and it wouldn't impact the Red Sox at all. If he wants multiple years, the answer is no.
  9. He signed for 10.5M in '21 and 4M in '22. Must be even cheaper in '23.
  10. 28 other teams did not have dedicated closers. In 2012, 21 relievers had 25+ saves. In 2022, there were only 11.
  11. By the Sox? No. By someone else? Probably.
  12. If JBJ wasn't 12M, maybe it's not an issue? If they can sign him for cheap money, I'm not opposed to the idea. If he's still the 20 wRC+ guy through Memorial Day and the glove isn't making up for it, just move on. It's not like Elvis Andrus really guarantees the Sox a hot bat.
  13. 10 days until we can cry about how much the cost of gas is affecting the Henry's checkbook on Truck Day.
  14. With Hill, you can just look at his innings pitched year to year and see it's a reasonable position to take with him... Since being transitioned to a starter: 16 110 17 135 18 132 19 58 20 38 21 158! 22 124
  15. This is incorrect. I was agreeing with your assertion that until he proves that he can go a full season, we have a right to be skeptical. I was in agreement and posted his games played. You posted the games played 3pm yesterday, which I didn't go back and re-read as I was in a meeting at that time. I just read back to where I had stopped posting yesterday. Forgive me for not memorizing yesterday's posts. I will take the lashes now. Just have your cookie please.
  16. Even with a 15 DRS, he wasn't worth 1 fWAR. I don't know. People didn't enjoy a poor hitting JBJ.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/bryan-mata-could-be-nearing-mlb-debut-with-red-sox?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage At Red Sox Winter Weekend a few days ago, Sale was asked which of the team’s prospects excited him the most. “I'm biased, because I'm a pitcher, but I love watching Mata throw,” Sale said. “I was there with him [in Fort Myers, Fla.] during his rehab process during Tommy John. We rehabbed together, and I saw him really turn a corner. The power he possesses, the ease that it looks like he's throwing with. Not for nothing, man, that dude's smile can light up a room. He's a fun guy to be around. He's a good teammate. You can tell, just how he operates, he really wants it.” Mata, in Boston this week for the Rookie Development Program the Red Sox are holding, lit up when Sale’s praise was relayed back to him. “I'm really grateful for it to have spent that time with him,” said Mata. “You know, he attended some of my bullpens. I attended some of his. He had a lot of great advice, and to have a pitcher of his stature be there advising you is a big deal for me, and I don’t take it lightly.”
  18. It's a smart personal decision to keep his OPSa down.
  19. You're not proven until you are. Cora needed to at least give someone a shot rather than do the committee thing. We know that doesn't work.
  20. I don't read all of your posts. There are too many.
  21. Unless it was a mandate from Bloom, this was a big time mistake from Cora.
  22. Good for you. Do you need a cookie?
  23. He hasn't been a 1 fWAR player since 2019. 538 OPS, 53 wRC+ since the start of 2021. I don't know what he has left in the tank.
