  1. The Red Sox would be better with Betts on it for sure.
  2. What do the Nats look like after Harper, Max and Turner have all left?
  3. Betts got 20% more from LA. That's not very close IMO.
  4. Bad swing for Fenway.
  5. Why let Renfroe leave only to get Haniger in FA? Help it make sense.
  6. If it works, people are fine with it. However, it's hard to justify the Betts trade when it's followed up in the near term with seasons like 2020 and 2022. Unfortunately, they didn't quite make it in 2021 (didn't win the division, lost in the ALCS). If they don't win soon, how can ownership explain away losing Betts (who won a ring in LA), Xander and potentially Raffy?
  7. I'm sure that crack Red Sox medical staff can keep him healthy.
  8. Typical crybaby post.
  9. MVP would never write in the third person. You should go cry about it though.
  10. Wow, sounds like you're kinda being a crybaby about moon's complaints over crybabies. Seems like we got a lot of crybabies over here!
  11. He still had 11 HRs in a third of a season. His statcast numbers stayed pretty decent even after coming back from injury. He's just a more injury prone Hunter Renfroe.
  12. Updated
  13. Leftovers can be pretty good sometimes, but I'm more of a fresh produce guy.
  14. All of my posts are well written and I'm no longer in contention for poster of the year because it wouldn't be fair to everyone else as I'm just too damn good.
  15. I don't care about the salary dump. They could have reset in other ways. I'd want extra prospects. Wow, Cordero! JBJ was the MIL salary dump! Was that a benefit to BOS? The prospects and players that have come back just haven't performed well enough. The Beni trade didn't work out at the end of the day. Verdugo is ok, but I'd still want more for the best player in the game. The Pivetta trade is the only trade that is a no doubt win for Bloom and that's not a great look.
  16. They were burned on Sale and maybe Price. However, while the contracts have increased, the revenue from tv contracts have vastly outpaced salary inflation. Additionally, the Red Sox were valued at 400M at the time of purchase, 1B in 2012 and now almost 4B in 2022. If he's worried about overpaying for Raffy or Xander, I'm going to find the proverbial tiny violin and start to play it.
  17. Per FanGraphs: Betts is 1st Xander is 14th Devers is 25th Harper was 24th and Stanton was 99th.
  18. There's just two. I think Topps uses bWAR on the back of their cards, but I find that site less intuitive to use so I just use FanGraphs now. Neither system is infallible.
  19. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2022&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2018-01-01&enddate=2022-12-31&sort=22,d You can go to the Leaders section on FanGraphs and chose multiple seasons. I'm not sure how to do it on BRef.
  20. And if you truly believe Henry, then you have to remember what he said on air that he disagreed with the CC signing, but still agreed to the contract. He gets out of the way of the people that makes the decisions. He has said that he doesn't run the operations.
  21. Henry doesn't do the drafting or implement overall strategy. He sets the budget and may have the final say on larger long term contracts. I don't think he gets involved in the Joelys of the world.
  22. Well, if a deal for either player comes up and it doesn't match their standards, they'll explain it away as an aberration.
  23. It's a plaything that they don't want to spend too much money on. They hire nerds to run the business who obsess over minutia that in the grand scheme of things just comes down to "well, it's all about luck anyway."
  24. I think if the future focused moves worked out, there'd be less need for crying. Unfortunately, a lot of the prospect deals haven't amounted to much.
