  1. I'm more preferential to Snap, Crackle, Mitch and Pop.
  2. Whitlock, Mayer, Casas and Bleis for Soto? Pass. This move would make sense if the Sox were on the verge of a title and needed a push over the edge. This current Sox team needs young guys to provide and influx of talent. Trading them away would ruin everything that Bloom tried to build. Just wait for Soto to become a FA, sign him and add him to that grouping of players who will be cheap AF on your payroll.
  3. I think it's to prevent the batter from trying to call time? I'm not sure. I'm fine with the rule. Batters take as much time these days as the pitcher. There's no reason to adjust your gloves and helmet after each pitch, especially if you didn't even swing.
  4. The Rule 5 draft is specifically to swap mediocre relievers around MLB. Strong disagree with this assessment.
  5. @alexspeier Yoshida said that with two strikes against a lefthanded pitcher, he was looking to hit something the other way to drive in the runner. Mission accomplished. He described himself as very excited to have played his first Red Sox game.
  6. Before 10 seconds ago, I didn't know who Marvin Alcantara (31) or Luis Guerrero (29) were.
  7. He's probably a better CFer than Duran after only a few professional innings. If I was the CBO or GM, I wouldn't have put him on the 40 man...
  8. This is a decent quote. “I’ve also had a lot of people who write and say that stuff on the radio who will privately disavow it and tell me they’re performing, so I don’t take any of it personally." Sports radio isn't real life?
  9. @IanCundall It's early in camp, but that was an encouraging swing from Jarren Duran. He's retooled his swing with a new setup, toe-tap instead of leg kick & starting his hands in a hitting position rather than bringing them back/up during his load. Looks quicker & more direct to the ball. We've mentioned his swing change already. We'll see if it pays dividends at all this season.
  10. Valdez - double, 2 RBI
  11. 1st inning vs Northeastern: Duran double to left Raffy RBI single Kiké BB Yoshida SAC Fly Verdugo BB Alfaro BB Casas BB Pitching change...
  12. They'd do best to move Dalbec around the field. If he's stuck at 1B, it's not going to help him get back to BOS.
  13. If Song looks good, DD isn't letting him go most likely. Sox would do best if he remains intriguing, but the stuff is rough after being out for so long.
  14. @ChrisCotillo In passing, Tom Werner called out Chris Sale this winter, saying: "Chris Sale has to perform at the level we expect him to." Sale hadn't heard it until this week. “I just got goosebumps. That kind of fired me up... I'll double down on it with him." 1. This confirms that Werner is the good one. 2. This also confirms that Sale thinks he's really ready to go.
  15. If he was drinking Blanton's, I'd be calling for his head. He seems fine enough. I like that he admitted that he's a nerd, but not a robot and is unathletic. Lean into it my dude!
  16. Red Sox signed MiLB Daniel Palka 1B/DH. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/daniel-palka/14897/stats?position=DH/OF AAA didn't have many 1B options so it's not a big surprise.
  17. According to the Boston Globe, Bloom's drink of choice this Spring Training is Whistle Pig Piggyback Bourbon. I'm more of a 1792 guy. Surprised it's not Buffalo Trace, but glad he's not drinking Blanton's.
  18. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2023/02/brandon-walter-is-red-soxs-most-interesting-pitcher-in-camp-ready-to-make-impact.html I want him to do well just so that I can yell I LOVE WALTAH!
  19. If he was really good, I think the Navy would be more likely to leave him alone just for PR sake. When I think of David Robinson, the Navy is one of the first things I think of. Not that Song would be on that level.
  20. Hamilton at least plays a different position. I can see the argument for keeping him. He plays 2B/SS/CF. He's very fast and can actually steal bases. If his bat ticked up with an approach adjustment, he would get a quick call.
  21. SUSPECT is what we call 'em 'round here, partner...
  22. DD likes his guys. He even traded for CJ Chatham. He has no connection to Ort.
  23. moonsLav ^
  24. I agree. Ward is more egregious than Song and it's not really close. Even if Song works out, it's hard to justify banking on an unknown commodity like that.
