  1. Wikelman and Paulino actually played at HIGHER levels than Song did.
  2. No, I'm saying that he should have at least considered the ramifications of leaving Song open to being drafted. If he just absent mindedly forgot about Song and then was shocked that he was drafted, it makes him look like a dumbass... Sorry that the world isn't black and white?
  3. How many players like him are serving in the military? IDK.
  4. Those guys are ineligible for the draft though?
  5. You said "being one player away." I would assume the teams that made the WS in 67, 75, 86 could have won if given one specific player if we played fantasy GM.
  6. It shows more about where FA is heading and about how the Red Sox have played FA recently. The fact that Story's contract is remotely close to Manny's deal says a lot about the state of the game.
  7. Shouldn't Bloom be smarter than baseball pundits?
  8. No, if he isn't granted permission, he's more likely to stay with Philly. He'd only have to stay on their active roster for 60 days next season if he was granted permission.
  9. At some point, Song was going to be ready to pitch. He has stated all along that his intent was to pitch in MLB. Bloom needed to have a plan in place. Did he have one?
  10. Is that the case though? Have they confirmed that they were surprised that Song could have been taken? Or is that just speculation?
  11. Story's deal isn't THAT big.
  12. 2020: Heath/Brandon for Pivetta/Seabold Mitch for Potts/Rosario Pillar for Jacob Wallace Oshit for Zach Bryant JBJ expiring not dealt 2021: Aldo for Schwarber Robles/Davis 2022: CV for Valdez Abreu Diekman for McGuire Northcut for Pham Groome for Hosmer, Ferguson, Rosier Nate not traded JD not traded Xander not traded Hill not traded Wacha not traded He did well in 2020, but should have dealt JBJ. 2021 was good, but those relief pieces didn't work out. 2022 was very half-assed. Not a fan of that deadline at all. He didn't get under the luxury tax. QO compensation was worsened. The only slam dunk trades that he won was the Pivetta and Schwarber deals.
  13. Until I see it, I don't believe it will happen.
  14. The vast majority of us on here have questioned why players like Ort and Brasier have been retained. When have debated the reasoning behind it. We'll see if it works out in Bloom's favor. His track record shows that there will be a few missteps each season, but that's not really unique to him. However, prior to the Rule 5 draft, I don't remember one f***ing poster on here saying "WHY DIDN'T WE PROTECT NOAH SONG?"
  15. You certainly CAN blame Bloom for not protecting Song. He weighed the risks and figured the other GM's would see it the same way. If this took Bloom completely by surprise, then you REALLY need to blame him.
  16. Easier to learn patience against AA and AAA pitchers than to be thrown into the fire of MLB. When he hacks at OOZ pitches, he just makes really weak contact. He'd get eaten alive once the book got around on him in MLB. When you have all these evaluators saying the exact same thing about a player, you probably should listen.
  17. Neither. Sox have taken a middle road at the deadline since Bloom has come aboard. He'll make some moves, but not enough to push them over the top either way.
  18. 1. Boston 2. Baltimore 3. Toronto Might as well just make it the whole division.
  19. I don't care if Bloom gets blame for this move or not. I think he should get blame for the Ward move and I have said as much over and over and over. Song is a great unknown. We have no idea what he will look like at Opening Day. The Phillies should try to stash him on the roster, but I'm not sure if it's the best use of their roster if they are really trying to win a WS this year. Should the Red Sox have tried to stash him? IDK. If they had stashed him, but still let Ward go, there'd be a certain segment that would have lost their minds over keeping Song over Ward. It's just going to come down to what happens with Song's career over the next 2-4 years. Maybe the Phillies stash him and he has a 6.50 ERA and throws 92 with weak secondary stuff? Does that mean Bloom made the right call? No, because the Phillies would still have 3 more option years to groom him in 2024-26 and see if they can turn it around. It's going to be a decision that will take a long time to hash out, unless he just gets flat out returned.
  20. You prefer SUSPECTS that haven't even thrown off a mound in 3 years?
  21. test 3
  22. I'm more preferential to Snap, Crackle, Mitch and Pop.
  23. Whitlock, Mayer, Casas and Bleis for Soto? Pass. This move would make sense if the Sox were on the verge of a title and needed a push over the edge. This current Sox team needs young guys to provide and influx of talent. Trading them away would ruin everything that Bloom tried to build. Just wait for Soto to become a FA, sign him and add him to that grouping of players who will be cheap AF on your payroll.
  24. I think it's to prevent the batter from trying to call time? I'm not sure. I'm fine with the rule. Batters take as much time these days as the pitcher. There's no reason to adjust your gloves and helmet after each pitch, especially if you didn't even swing.
