  1. I just don't know if there's enough to sell.
  2. A nobody.
  3. Nate could probably with his k/bb rate. Doubtful for Wacha as he is a pitch to contact guy.
  4. @redsoxstats This is the third straight season in which the Red Sox offense has had a disastrous 10-game stretch of scoring 25 or fewer runs. Aug 7, 2021 (2-8) May 8, 2022 (2-8) June 12, 2023 (3-7)
  5. Roman Anthony promoted to GRE.
  6. The 2004 Sox didn't have to go against a coked up Doc Gooden!
  7. No, if that's the expectation, they should clearly just tell everyone that rather than saying it'll be awesome and they'll be competitive.
  8. You have a hammer and everything looks like a nail.
  9. So is his 398 OPS if you have a microscope.
  10. No, the only former players (pre-23) they are paying are Barnes (through 25), Hosmer, Manny (through 26) and Pedroia (until the sun explodes).
  11. Brooks Brannon hit his 2nd HR today in FCL. 1390 OPS in 5 Games. Probably has the bat for Low A, but I think they see him as the full package at Catcher and want to take their time developing the High School draftee.
  12. @EdHand89 Jackie Bradley Jr has been DFA'd by the Kansas City Royals. He was slashing .133/.188/.210 with one home run over 113 PA. His admittedly useful 0.5 dWAR did not do nearly enough to overshadow his offensive flaws. Might be the end of the road for an overall solid career.
  13. Yeah, because Arraez only has 1 HR and 1 SB, 15 in 450 G. His batting average is the one old school stat he can hang his hat on. He doesn't hit for lots of power, isn't fast and can't field for s***.
  14. Good, back then that's what they used. The game has moved on. The players have too.
  15. Why even watch then?
  16. They are wheeling out Chase Anderson in Game 2. If they can't hit well now, they never will.
  17. Yup and many DET outlets were saying the same thing at the time. DET FO was saying "Jobe was #1 on our sheet, scouted Mayer but wasn't impressed with the hit tool, Jobe has a great makeup and can be a #1 starter." With young arms these days, any pitch could lead to a career defining injury.
  18. Starter ERA 5.07 Starter xFIP 4.08 (10th in MLB)
  19. I didn't want to mention the Verdugo thing. He has one more ARB year and has recouped a lot of his value this season. Probably has more real trade value than the other guys mentioned. However, I think the plan is to move Masataka to a more fulltime DH role starting next year. They'll need to fill all three OFer spots. If they get rid of Verdugo, Abreu better be ready for fulltime AB's. 2024: LF Refsnyder/Valdez? CF Duran/Abreu RF Verdugo
  20. Pitcher wins and losses.
  21. A -0.4 fWAR guy isn't going to have much trade capital. Get another Max Ferguson type? Sox have enough of those. They need to deal the high value guys, but I'm not sure they really have those.
  22. With Devers' contract, I think it really limits the return you'd get. It also limits the suitors for him. Not sure it's worth having the word out that you were shopping him.
  23. Starting at the 2015 Draft: 2015 0 AS pitchers 10-15, picks included Carson Fulmer, Kaprelian (16th) 2016 0 AS pitchers, Ian Anderson, AJ Puk, Braxton Garrett, Cal Quantril, Matt Manning, Jay Groome! 2017 1 AS pitcher (Rogers), Trevor Rogers, Hunter Greene, Mackenzie Gore, Kyle Wright, Shane Baz 2018 0 AS pitchers, Casey Mize, Ryan Weathers, Grayson Rodriguez, Logan Gilbert 2019 1 AS pitcher (Manoah), Nick Lodolo, Alek Manoah 2020 0 AS pitchers, Max Meyer, Reid Detmers 2021 0 AS pitchers, Sam Bachman 2022 0 AS pitchers (duh), no one has appeared in MLB yet
  24. Interesting notes on the FanGraphs list: Alcantara 9 - (21 SP) is seen as the next Bleis type who could rocket up the charts nationally Bastardo 11 - (36 SP) same age as Wikelman and is outpitching him, FanGraphs likes his 3 above average secondary pitches (SL, CU, CH) Blalock 17 - (43 SP) coming off TJS, this is his Rule 5 year Cespedes 22 - (41 SP) 1.4M Sox signee this year Perales 24 - (8 SP) Rule 5 eligible, may be picked due to relief upside Monegro 25 - (UR SP) "best pitching prospect I saw during extended ST" 5 IP, 8 K, 0 BB, 0 H in 1st FCL start this year Mata 27 - (9 SP) "needs to be put in the pen" Blaze 29 - (16 SP) projected as a big leaguer, but a 1B who doesn't walk or field well
