  1. Miranda can't play the OF corners. If Johnson gets hurt, you get an Gardner/Melky/Grandy OF with Swish as the DH. Pena and Russo are good bench players, I'm more intrigued by Russo's ability to play LF, it could be intereresting. Gardner better be a league average hitter next year, because I predict Melky plays his way out to the bench by the end of May-June. As for the relievers, if we sign Sheets, Hughes goes back to the pen, and you have Hughes and K-Rob + Marte, any of them could handle the setup job.
  2. Because they're gonna play for the Yankees next year?
  3. You prefer one more year of Lowell or signing Beltre for three years?
  4. Mike Lowell as a Red Sox: .829 OPS Just saying.
  5. Even if the offense drops, the improved defense will make up for that. In the end, it's all about the run differential.
  6. Great move. Our lineup is now younger, very flexible and deep. 1. Jeter 2. Johnson 3. Tex 4. A-Rod 5. Posada 6. Granderson 7. Swisher 8. Cano 9. Gardbrera Now all we need is an OF bat from the bench. I'd want Eric Hinske back. I wouldn't mind Rick Ankiel, to provide some depth behind Melky/Gardy.
  7. Matsui's knees being healthy all year was a fluke. Cash knows this.
  8. Good enough for the WC. There's some holes and question marks.
  9. With both Nicks, that's over 200 walks right there.
  10. Hope it's true.
  11. I think he replaces Hinske as a bench bat. But the fact that he can't play the OF makes him useless.
  12. Agree, but his WAR would be 3.3 instead of 4.3, so it's a downgrade of a full win. They're better keeping him in CF, with Ellsbury moving to LF, with his career 21.8 UZR in LF, should be good for about 3.3 wins. Yeah, since we don't know how Cameron's UZR will translate from CF to LF, the analysis is not very accurate.
  13. That just means that the difference between Cameron and a replacement level CF is greater than the difference between Bay and a replacement level LF in wins. Consider positional adjustment my friend.
  14. It would have been way cheaper just trading for Gardner.
  15. Easy game for CC so far. 6-0 Yanks
  16. What's wrong with him being compared to Ramiro Pena? He's a legit ML cost controlled utility infielder with plus defense and above average speed. I'm sure the Sox could use a Pena right now.
  17. No s*** sherlock
  18. Most pathetic Sox lineup i've seen in a while.
  19. He's gonna be on innings limits.
  20. True, is not like you had Penny AND Smoltz as your 4th and 5th starter. Plus a rookie that has proved nothing in the bigs. You got me!
