I don't quite know how to explain this.....
Jose Iglesias is not going to smell the Major Leagues next season.
There is a reason why player development is called player development.
Again, under what logical scenario (emphasis on "logical") do you see the Sox bringing up Iglesias instead of Lowrie?
Please provide me with logical reasons to counter the following:
1) Although he hasn't been healthy, Lowrie has proven he can at least be a league average SS, offensively and defensively. Iglesias hasn't.
2) With the enormous investment made in Jose Iglesias, why would the FO f*** with his development when there are both internal and external options to fix the SS problem short-term?
3)What has he kid anyone here, that would make them think he should be considered as a candidate to break the big club next year?
4) Does anyone here know Iglesias is barely starting to adapt to american culture? Under those considerations, why would you throw an impressionable 19-year who's undergoing both a cultural and playing-level adjustment into the fire of The Show?
5) If he was brought up, but not to be the regular, would that not hinder his offensive progress just as much as being the regular and having his confidence crushed trying to adjust to big-league pitching on the go?
If you answered the above 5 questions negatively, then take a minute to take the rose-colored glasses off and understand that it makes no logical, strategical, or developmental sense to bring up Jose Iglesias even as a backup to the Majors.
"Out-there" ideas are one thing, complete and utter fanboy-induced delusions are another.
"Iggy".
