  1. Florida hangs up the phone, but not immediately.
  2. Tejada's noticeably declining? He's never been much of an OBP guy, but his SLG% the last seasons: .442 .415 .445 And he actually had a respectable .340 OBP last year. Green can't smell that. And even though his UZR and UZR/150 have been ugly in 07 and 09, his range factor as i indicated in a previous post, has remained steadily above average. And what about Adam Everett, who has the same noodle bat but superior defensive skills? UZR/150 over the last 3 seasons: 29.2 11.2 13.6 In other words, Tejada, no matter whether he declines or not, represents a monster upgrade offensively, while not losing as much as you'd like us to believe defensively, Everett would provide a monster upgrade defensively while providing about the same quality of "Glovey Mcnoodlebat" offense. With three clearly better options than Green still in the market, there's no reason for him to be our starting SS in 2010. He's just not good.
  3. That would also kill two birds in one stone. Even if people don't like it, i'd plant Uggla in LF and Hanley in SS while keeping Lowell. /offseason.
  4. It depends on how the Sox can match up with Texas in terms of prospects. He's really expensive, and i don't think he's suited for everyday SS duty anymore.
  5. *Sigh* You're using a mistake in the playoffs as your argument to attack Holliday? Also, have you seen Bay pay LF outside of Fenway? Also, RBI? Really? Also, reliable 35+ bat? He has cracked 35 homers exactly twice in his career. No one would be dissapointed if Bay came back, but trying to show Bay as a better ballplayer than Holliday is an exercise in futility. Stop trying.
  6. If Texas is clearing payroll, whoever gives them the best offer for Young gets him, divisional position non-withstanding. The Phillies gained financial flexibility this year with a couple expiring contracts (Adam Eaton, Geoff Jenkins among others), and will gain even more after '10. They have the money and prospects to pull it off, they are not a small-market team.
  7. Marco Scutaro at 3B? Seriously? Stop and think about it for a couple minutes.
  8. Doiji, to be exact. I've advocated for him as a backup to a SS signed on a one-year (with an option if necessary) deal from the current crop. Preferably Tejada or Adam Everett.
  9. Any option that is not 34-year-old Marco Scutaro on a 3-year deal sounds good to me.
  10. A) Please read my previous post about Tejada. B ) It's not the money, it's the time commitment.
  11. It would keep me up at night seeing that he's 34 and this is the first time he's had an above average performer as a regular in the SS position. He's a bust waiting to happen.
  12. Izturis is not getting traded. Punto, Everett, Tejada, Cora, Juan Castro,Felipe Lopez,O-Cab,Ramon Martinez. Any two of those guys on one-year deals are better options than Marco Scutaro.
  13. If Theo offers anything more than a 1-year deal with an option to Scutaro, he needs to f***ing quit his job.
  14. The point is, he can still hit. He hit 42 doubles and 14 HR's last year. Even though minute maid is a hitter's park, how many of those doubles would turn into HR's playing nearly 100 games at Fenway, Camden Yards and Tropicana?
  15. Thanks.
  16. People might want to shoot me for this, but i'd much rather have Tejada and a Glovey McnoodleBat on one-year deals. Tejada, contrary to popular belief, was a pretty good SS as soon as 2008, and i got to see a lot of him because he's "Captain Dominican" so we get a lot of Astros games, usually when Wandy Rodriguez pitches, or they face up against a Dominican SP. 2008 Tejada defensive metrics: UZR: 9.3 UZR/150: 9.4 RF/G: 4.0 RF/9: 4.2. 2009 Tejada defensive metrics: UZR: -13.9 UZR/150: -12.4 RF/G: 4.4 RF/9: 4.5 His range factor ratings actually improved in 2009, so a number of factors might have to do with his UZR decline, but the fact is, Tejada's defense is not what he showed in 2008 or 2009 but something in between, right around league average, and not a statue like some "Educated guessers" would lead you to believe.
  17. Listen, i'll agree with you that i want no part of Scutaro, but that's no reason to state such obvious fallacies. Nick Green's time at SS last year is not enough of a sample size to come up with such a conclusion when compared to Scutaro's. Please stick to the facts. Scutaro: 415 games at SS. Last year's sample size was 143 games. Green: 104 games at SS. Last year's sample size was 81 games. Anyone can look good over a half-season of baseball, Green over Scutaro makes sense from a financial standpoint, but advocating his defensive superiority is an exercise in futility since Green simply doesn't have the range to stick at SS as a regular.
  18. I'm pretty sure, unlike you, he can conjugate verbs in the past sense. Extra chromosomes FTW!
