  1. When he's effective in the AL, and his "pristine" FIP translates to him not giving up runs by the buttload, you can talk about extensions.
  2. About this: I've been looking for a stat to back me up in my analysis of Bay/Youkilis not being prototypical cleanup hitters, and i've found it. It's called "Clutch" in fangraphs. The statistic tries to measures how well a players perform in a previously defined "clutch" situation relative to how they would have performed in a context-neutral environment. However, i came up a bit surprised, because some of the players i would deem as "prototypical cleanup hitters" don't fare very well according to this stat either. I shall continue my research.
  3. Pedro Martinez.
  4. Yup. Between you and Jacko, it certainly is. But you get the benefit of the use of the smiley, which is an exclusive.
  5. According to WAR, the 2008 version of Josh Beckett was 0.2 wins more valuable than Javier Vasquez, even though Beckett, peripherals and all, was much more effective. WAR uses FIP as a baseline for its SP valuations, and in Vasquez' case, his pretty peripherals don't add up to his actual on-field production. WAR proves you right, but color me skeptical.
  6. First off, thank you for your very interesting baiting attempt. Second, if you take the time to read the post instead of looking for opportunities to take shots, you'll notice i regarded it as "an opinion you cannot see on the stats", meaning i don't expect it to hold water, and if an interested, non-trolling party (you are trolling here) i would gladly take their statistical analysis as valid since it was simply my opinion. On a side note, i would urge you to do some comprehensive reading and drop the Jacko baiting act, because RBI as a statistic has not been used by me in any manner on this thread, and you'll notice i didn't challenge I59's opinion because i deem it valid, but from my POV Youkilis is not your prototypical cleanup hitter. I personally would rather have him in the three spot, but hey, troll away.
  7. Indeed.
  8. He was below average two years and above average one year. He had and ERA+ of 98, 126 and 98 in '06,'07 and '08.
  9. Oh? So i try to keep someone off Spudboy in a respectful manner and you come in and take a shot but i'm "always the victim". Again, you're a douchebag. STFU and GTFO.
  10. Fantastic cop-out. You're a baiter, and you contribute little to the board. I will echo the sentiment of almost everyone on this site, and again tell you, please STFU and GTFO. I may be confrontational, but you take personal shots, call to the mods after baiting and show an overall desire to be a douchebag. Go away. No one likes you.
  11. I'd like to have a third party do it. You can if you'd like to.
  12. About this nugget. I came back because people asked me to, i'm pretty sure those same people would love it if you STFU and GTFO. We can give it a go and make a poll if you'd like.
  13. Every reasonable Yankee fan admits a lot actually went the Yanks' way last year, just like the 2008 Phillies, 2007 Sox, 2006 Cards etc etc etc. If you want to think they will be so lucky again in 2010 that's your prerogative, but it's obviously a flawed argument.
  14. That seems to be the general consensus. Trolling Yankee fans, however, will assure you that Bay will produce throughout the length of his contract, just like they said when the Mets signed Pedro, and look how that turned out.
  15. Your trolling act is tiring.
  16. This part referred to JacksonianFAIL specifically.
  17. The Mets did basically assure him the 5th year he was looking for though. The Sox wouldn't, so he chose what was best for him. I really don't see it as hypocritical in this instance.
  18. I thought this site was meant for baseball discussion, not trolling and ********. Maybe i'm wrong.
  19. Doiji, the "Jason Bay knee and shoulder concerns" have been reported throughout the off-season, and if you take a peek at random articles pertaining the Sox and Bay, you will see that his knee and shoulder have been a concern since mid-season. This is not a new thing, and seeing Bay's production, doesn't it surprise you the Mets were really his only suitor? The state of both his knee and shoulder are true concerns, in fact, i read this gem this morning: Bob Klapisch, Foxsports.com One of many to present concerns about Bay's health. That's why i said to back it up with statistics. It would have been easy to just post his OPS numbers, just like you did right now. Besides, we're not talking about an annoying noob or someone who's regarded as an ******* on the site, but a contributing member who usually has intelligent points and avoids controversy. And he's active, something the site needs. You're not helping by making him feel insecure about posting on the site.
  20. This is not something that is being made up. The Sox backed up mid-year from their initial offer because of health concerns. Other interested teams wouldn't budge from a four-year offer because of health concerns. The deal with the Mets isn't completed yet, because Bay is yet to pass his physical, and sources report that if he fails it, the deal may not go through. You don't see the health concerns, but MLB teams obviously see them. Who do i believe? Actualy, i am. Lots of people here are working hard to keep the place peaceful. As someone who has openly complained about a number of other members (me included), you should lead by example.
  21. 20 million dollars is not pennies on the dollar, or nickels, or any other small denomination currency. The total value of his contract is 5 years/80 million. According to reports, they gave him a very easy vesting option for the fifth year.
