  1. Oh it's obviously still early, but this is what the team is supposed to be doing, at least pitching wise, or am i incorrect? Besides, disagreeing with the premise initially, then trying to use it (at a much later date mind you, when what is and isn't in the season is much more defined) is hypocritical.
  2. Besides, to be honest, i took offense to the joke. I always thought pinstripes made me look thinner, and you crushed that notion. Thanks. :thumbdown
  3. I'm willing to wager the Rockies extend Ubaldo this season at the latest. See, baseball is suffering a shift in mindset, and it's almost impossible for high-tier talent to hit FA this day and age, and i used the Mauer example specifically because he's the poster boy for guys who should've been FA's but weren't.
  4. That's not what i meant, think about it again.
  5. Actually, no. What the poster said was that the Yanks and Sox are playing like complete opposites, not because of schedules, but because the Sox are winning consistently and the Yankees aren't, suggesting that the Sox would play even better now that they're entering the "cozy" part of the schedule. He never mentioned the Yankee's schedule as getting harder, when in fact, the Sox and Yankees schedule have been similar for the most part, and will continue to be similar as well. This is the post he was responding to, he mentioned the schedule simply because the Sox *should* play better against weaker opposition, not because the schedule per se would give them an advantage, when the Yanks will enter a weaker part of their schedule as well.
  6. What about his road suckage? As soon as that turns around, the OPS will hit .900 soon after. Beltre has a decent season and moves on, the V-Mart/V-Tek tandem stays, with the Sox adding another bat in the offseason.
  7. 1) This is not about Ortiz, this is about the awesomeness that is Beltre. 2) The reason why Ortiz took so much more abuse than Beltre (when people were pining for Lowell to start at third and Beltre be benched or cut, let it be known) is that even when he was sucking it up with the mental errors, he was still displaying great range, and "hitting with the banjo", when Ortiz was slumping, he was providing nothing to the club. I'm one of the biggest Ortiz supporters, even keeping him in my avatar through his struggles, but he looked toast. The bat speed was there, but he seemed to be pressing, and losing playing time to Lowell wasn't helping, i'm actually surprised he broke out in such a grand way. 3) Let Beltre play his season out, then see what happens. 4) Beltre is still out-performing Bay, and i shall enjoy it while it lasts.
  8. So the Sox are now second in the Major Leagues in runs scored with 252, ahead of the Yankees, Rays and Phillies. Second in HR's with 65 (Holy s*** the Blue Jays have 79) ,third in doubles, third in OBP. But entering the season, this team lacked power, and OBP. I will admit they're probably playing above their heads, but what happens when V-Mart starts hitting, and Ellsbury and Cameron get healthy? I guess in the end, creating a very strong bench is an integral part of a team's offensive performance. By the way, the Sox are on pace to score 842 runs, which in the end, will probably even out to around 820 runs, which is exactly the number i predicted in the off-season, not below 800 like some biased Yankee fans tried to point out in numerous occasions. I love logic.
  9. So now it's the offense you're going to criticize......persistence.
  10. Not me, my good sir, not me. /endbackpatting.
  11. Ah yes, this is now my favorite thread. Now all i need is for Drew to go on one of his patented "Carry the team on my back" stretches and all will be good in the world.
  12. I've made this argument several times. The response i got? FENWAY'S NOT A GOOD PARK FOR HITTING FOR POWER!!!11!!!!1!. Two months in, Beltre's .744 career home OPS is replaced by an .820 OPS at Fenway. Funny how that works.
  13. If you're a girl, i love you and want to marry you. If you're a dude, you're my main man and i want to buy you a beer. I've been the main Beltre defender in this board, since i know exactly what the guy's capable of. Welcome aboard. Lol Lowell can play better D than Beltre lol.
  14. This is a thread about the Sox, not the Yankees' "utter awesomeness."
  15. If at this stage in their careers, you still honestly think Posada's a better hitter than Martinez, then i don't know what to tell you.
