Courtesy of Dale Tallon. Brian Campbell's contract really hurt. But as I said I like the core of this team, and they'll definitely contend for the Stanley Cup this year.

I agree with Kilo. It's not something Sox fans should be jumping for joy at, but at the same time it won't hurt the team.

With Hossa, Kane, Toews, and Keith locked up the Hawks should have a good core of players for many years to come. Now, just get rid of Campbell and try to hold onto Versteeg and Seabrook. I'd like to keep Sharp as well, but he's expendable. As is Byfuglien.

He could have won 20 games this year. He had 9 no decisions where his ERA was 3.32 and his WHIP was 1.228. Averaged over 6 innings in those no decisions as well. The key for Lester will be getting off to a better start next year. In '08 and '09 he struggled big time in April. Was also bad last year in May. But his numbers were staggeringly good the rest of the way.

I understand that SS has been an issue for the Sox for awhile now, but at best this seems like a short term solution, and not one I would readily endorse. Pedroia has established himself as one of the premiere two-way second basemen in the game. The last time he played SS was in 2006. Three years is a large gap. And if he struggles at SS, I'll bet he tries to overcompensate at the plate. The FO put themselves in this position, and now they want Pedroia to bail them out. If they had any sense, they would leave him alone.

He plays for the Blue Jays. Wins and losses generally don't mean much. But it's especially true if you play for the Blue Jays. Besides, if you look at Halladay's splits from last year, August was his only bad month. And that was during all of the trade talk. If the injury bothered him so much, it certainly didn't show in September where his ERA was 1.47 and his WHIP was 1.04 or July when his ERA was 3.00 and his WHIP was 1.15. No reason for concern.

Don't know if I like this move. Pedroia is one of the best second basemen in the game. Why ruin a good thing? Does he have the range and arm strength to play short? If they do end up moving him, getting Beltre and Hudson/Phillips is a must. That way even if Pedroia is subpar at short, you've still got a good infield.

Getting Hanley back would be epic. I would give up Kelly and Westmoreland and pretty much anyone in the farm except Buccholz. Only because the Sox are going to need him next year penciled in every 5th day. Can't afford to lose him unless you replace him with Felix or Halladay or Lackey.

Yes, the Sox have proven they can overcome mediocrity at SS, but it's still a position you'd like to stabilize. And it should be a priority for the FO. Not the number one priority, mind you, but it should be up there.

Should have retained Gonzo's services. Now, Scutaro would appear to be the best option, and he could be costly. Not that he should be. An aging shortstop who just had a career-year isn't a salivating prospect, but given the situation at SS, I believe he'll have a lot of leverage in negotiations with the Sox - should that come to pass.

Eh, I don't really buy it. He's one of the elite hitters in the game, and he's still in his prime. His bat would instantly give the Sox a much more dangerous lineup. Name five hitters in the game who are better right now. And his fielding at 1st base was passable this year, according to UZR. I don't care how big his contract is. This man is worth every penny. Nerds at FanGraphs are hardly infallible. This wouldn't be the first time they've been wrong.
