  1. *checks Yankees game* Ho...lee... crap.... 14 run second inning...?!
  2. I have never seen a bullpen so poorly assembled and consistently inept as that of the Washington Nationals.
  3. Overtime. By the skin of our teeth and a gift from the other team, overtime.
  4. Thank goodness, Joakim Noah is even stupider. :02.6 BOS 96, CHI 97 - Shooting foul on J. Noah
  5. And if I'm reading this right, Rondo just cost us a playoff game.
  6. Interesting. This is the part of the game the coaches and veterans get paid for.
  7. This team is not going deep into the playoffs.
  8. Giving David a 22% chance of homers today? Love to see it. Doubt I will.
  9. Ehh? Jones is a pretty decent pitcher. I'd rather see a young pitcher with his numbers, who the Orioles have not seen before other than some chance meetings in the minors, then some of our more workworn veterans right now.
  10. Sure, no question of that. This is predicated on the idea that Lowrie is out for awhile. And I would definitely hope Theo has felt the Angels out about Brandon Wood. He's an interesting gamble as a guy who can be picked up for less than he's worth, you can still stash him in the minors (for now!) and we're weakest at the two positions Wood knows how to play -- SS and 3B.
  11. Not necessarily. If we have to, we have potential trade pieces in our system, and not just the big 5 of Reddick, Buchholz, Bowden, Masterson and Anderson either. With the amount of infield depth the Angels have, I 'd love to see them pry away Maicer Izturis for example. He's an adequate starter or one heck of a bench player and he probably doesn't cost us anything we can't afford to lose. Or if the Angels decide they want to keep Izturis, why not take a flyer on Aybar, who's sort of trapped between Izturis and Sean Rodriguez? Or see if you can salvage Brandon Wood? Or go to the Dodgers and see if they're willing to discuss a Chin-Lung Hu trade?
  12. Somehow I don't think that's the biggest concern right now.
  13. Hunwick to the hospital with a spleen injury. What god did that poor kid offend?
  14. Cute.
  15. Our bullpen is a little pinched for this game. I don't know if I'd use Ramirez tonight, and Delcarmen is right out after his heroic effort last night. If Beckett gets into trouble for some reason we'll probably see Hunter Jones debut. Possibly a Saito sighting as well.
  16. Brewers are probably on speed dial with a package they've requested for JJ Hardy already in Theo's hands.
  17. Is there another team in the league that can do what our bullpen has done in two of the last three games? Between Ramon Ramirez and Manny Delcarmen we have two of the most rugged, durable young righty power arms in the game, and back that up with an Okajima who looks like he's going to repeat his successes this year, and of course with Papelbon, and this is a bullpen that has proven it can carry the team when the starters falter. And that's with the team going very easy on our Daniel Bard placeholder, Takashi Saito, who I expect to hit the DL sometime this year to make room for Bard. BTW, as much as we malign Javier Lopez, if we ever decided to get rid of him, half the teams in baseball would offer at least a PTBNL for him based on his track record over the last 3 years with Boston.
  18. Mariners take the lead back with some textbook "smartball" and taking huge advantage of Detroit's awful defense.
  19. Ouch, man. Jeeze. That's harsh.
  20. Heroes of the game: JASON BAY JD DREW MANNY DELCARMEN
  21. OMG can't believe I missed that.
  22. OK, why are we looking at a picture of Adam Dunn?
  23. Good job by Okajima.
