  1. 1) D'oh you're right, I wonder who I was mixing him up with this time. 2) My fear is they'd rather deal Bard than Buchholz. Reliever
  2. Here's a question. what does the acquisition of another catcher say about Wakefield? Certainly the roster victim of Martinez is quite likely to be Kottaras since we aren't losing another roster player, and Kottaras may or may not slip through waivers -- too many people were paying attention to what he did in AAA last year and too many people have sucky catchers. The only reason you acquire Martinez with a healthy Varitek is if you think he'll be playing 1B primarily (in which case why did you acquire LaRoche?) or if you think that the situation that requires us to maintain Kottaras on the roster is no longer valid for the year. Namely that we're done with Wake until at least the offseason.
  3. You think the acquisition of Chris Perez would stop them from acquiring Bard? He's a great power lefty, but he isn't yet the shutdown closer he's going to be.
  4. Sounds like rosenhal is just speculating here.
  5. I'm just curious. Was wondering if anyone knew anything about the giy.
  6. That worries me even more. the Guardians are in a position to truly covet Bard, since they haven't had a true closer since forever and it cost them in 2007, and I'd rather lose Clay than Bard.
  7. The answer to that question depends on Ortiz.
  8. Cya clay! Hope you like it in Cleveland. Still hoping for my little theory that we're getting some players to turn around and add to a deal for another guy like Gonzalez. I wouldn't say no to landing Paul Konerko either, since the Chisox don't look to be going anywhere this year. I'm still not sure how we fit this guy in. seems to me we need to have Lowell not in the lineup for the acquisition of both LaRoche and Martinez to make sense.
  9. I'm not sure what to make of this guy. Supposedly he's gotten himself together recently in the GCL and at age 19, he's got a chance to rise, on the other hand, even 19 is a little old to be in the GCL, he hasn't been playing full time, and he's only hitting .248 on the year with little power or speed. Is there anything here worth a second look or is this just a guy marking time before he goes back to whatever he was doing before he was drafted? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Kenneth%20Roque&pos=2B&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=519226
  10. Then I try that, people always tell me I'm projecting them.
  11. Sounds like what people were saying about Jose Alvarez a couple years ago. Rookie ballers are just too volatile for even me to try to project.
  12. I still think that if you give him enough time, Bay will turn it around. He's been too good over his career for me to think this is the real Jason Bay.
  13. A running QB to back up a drop back and passer like Brady. Interesting. Maybe Belichick liked having a QB who could execute a running play more than once in a blue moon. Would certainly have helped in the Superbowl.
  14. Refine it then. You guys oughta know I aim high by now. bits and pieces of Cleveland going to San Diego to help us get AGon
  15. You want to headline a deal for gonzalez with an A ball arm, no matter who that A ball arm is I'm all for it. Same with an A ball SS prospect. Whichever Kelly is, if he's the centerpiece of a Gonzo deal, I'm on board.
  16. you'll have to tell me what it's like to be the center of your own personal universe.
  17. No, Crespo, I long since gave up on you. A guy could be the second coming, and if I hyped him you'd find a way to tell me he sucked. Other people do read the thread though.
  18. J. C. Romero currently has a Neighborgallian 7.5 BB/9 still not buying it? How about this guy then?
  19. Would be a great fit if Ricciardi would make up his mind whether he was dealing in the division or not.
  20. By golly, you're right! Silly me, the majors are only for greata command pitchers like J. C. Romero.
  21. Frankly, that obvious move that just makes sense and is a natural upgrade really isn't there this year.
  22. *head splody* so we agree. Good.
  23. Yes, yes. congratulations. You've figured out why he's in the Dojjiverse rather than being a top prospect. What did you seem me call him? A potentially decent matchup lefty or LOOGY isn't too much of a stretch for an older LHRP with a high K/9 even if he's a bit wild. He repeated AA because he was converted to the bullpen. C'mon, man, no one here is saying he's the next Billy Wagner. But he still has a pretty good shot at big league time in some form as a lefty with a high k/9, even you can be man enough to admit that. Or am I wrong?
  24. Of course you dod. I've been kinda figuring that's the way it actually worked with you guys for awhile, but I didn't quite want to believe it. Guess I was holding out for a little more honesty. Really I should have known better than to hope for such a thing.
