  1. Navarro's shown something last couple days. I'd let him have a look at short over the next handful of days to see if consistent at bats get hnis bat going. If he can be anything near what he was in the minors, he'd be an upgrade on Scutaro and he's more of a natural shortstop than either Scoot or Lowrie.
  2. Lowrie isn't really a shortstop. On a team that didn't have Pedroia he'd be a second baseman. People thought that all along, and this year confirmed it. Just can't spend a year making the throw from the hole and stay healthy.
  3. A power lefty is a power lefty.
  4. Career line .289/.349/.407 Nothing to sneeze at for a shortstop. Especially because he's also a competent defender.
  5. I'd rather go after Brendan Ryan, but if Furcal were healthy I could see him coming here and helping us. He's a good player. He's just not on the field as much as you'd want. On the other hand, since we have Lowrie, or will at some point, and we have Scutaro right now, that can probably be managed, so sure. Bring on Furcal.
  6. Heck, let both Ortiz and Tek walk and save yourself a roster spot. Lavs plays DH and backup catcher. Small markets would do it. I'm not sure the Sox will. Would Javy Lopez be a place to start comping Lavarnway, or is that giving Lav's defense too much credit?
  7. Couldn't do it, he was in my statistics class. Woulda aroused suspicion. ... WHAT? Yes I HAVE studied statistics thank you very much!
  8. Hey I know a Marlins fan, met him in Presque Isle, Maine of all places. He was all taking credit for our win in 07 because of Beckett and Lowell.

  12. Well he hasn't played third that much in the minors, so maybe you give Navarro a break there.
  13. indeed, and it's getting better. They have prospects waiting to come up and fill most of their holes. Their lineup is competent and their bullpen isn't bad between Collins, Crow and Soria. If they could figure out the rotation, they'd be scary.
  14. Less terrible than he looked. ALmost managed a quality start actually.
  15. .295/.335/.553, if you use IsoD and IsoP and just plug 'em in. The power in particular will probably be a bit less, maybe ..480-.500 but that's still a decent player.
  16. I actually like the idea of bringing in Francoeur. He feels like a good Fenway hitter, and he's a good defender at either corner outfield post. If Reddick starts to have trouble with lefties he'd be a good guy to have around, and he could platoon with Crawford to our benefit right now.
  17. Do we know only too well.
  18. Lavarnway could be hitting full time for the Red Sox this time next year depending on what happens with Ortiz. I don't touch him. Middlebrooks is less important as we have Youkilis. I wouldn't do the trade. But I can see how you could justify it.
  19. I hate the idea of a lefty specialist. I wouldn't pay a guy who can only get one out.
  20. Swap that for one of the best doubles parks in the big leagues though.
  21. Problem is I'm kinda thinking Fenway Park may have a similar effect.
  22. Stay away from Ubaldo. The cost to reward ratio is terrible.
  23. Hands up anyone who's officially sick of Randy Williams. *hand*
