    The wild card game is "technically" a playoff game. But I think its incredibly dumb a 162 game season is decided by 1 game for some teams. For example - Rockies and D-Backs are great teams, playing in a division with Dodgers and will likely be f***ed into playing each other in a 1 game playoff, which doesn't really seem fair to those teams.

    My favorite part about googling Herb Washington "In 1974, Washington was tapped by Oakland A's owner Charlie Finley to become the team's "designated runner". Finley and Washington worked out a one-year $45,000 contract with a $20,000 signing bonus. The contract had an unusual clause requiring Washington to grow facial hair before the beginning of the season. Washington had difficulty growing a full mustache, so he used an eyebrow pencil to simulate full facial hair.[1]" Also, this thread is one of the greatest ever created.

    Betts hasn't been as good as last year, but he's still by far our best position player. His defense and base running alone make him elite. In a down season he's still a 5 WAR player.

    Only way I see Castillo being called up is if we get killed by injuries. Its just not worth paying that money for a 4th OF that will make a minimal impact. Mookie, JBJ and Beni rarely need rest days, so it doesn't leave a lot of room for Castillo, or any other OF to get a whole lot of play time, look how few ABs Chris Young gets, and this is with him also getting AB's at DH spot.

    I think the walk off against Guardians has to be #1. The fact Christian Vazquez of all people hit the walk off bomb, makes it all the more crazy. But I agree. this is #3. That walk off against the Yankees where they made all the errors in the 9th was pretty crazy too.

    In other news, Homer Bailey (who really f***ing sucks) somehow let John Lackey get a big enough lead/jump to steal 2nd.

    Yeah, from was another stupid send. But we all knew he was gong to send him and we got lucky it worked. Either way I liked our chances in extras. Cardinals used almost their whole pen in the 9th.

    This ump makes no sense. Some innings he's squeezing the pitchers, others he's giving them a few inches. I don't get why these guys can't just establish a zone and be consistent.
