That just isn’t smart. This isn’t the NFL where you pass up a great QB because you have Patrick Mahomes. The guy you are drafting might not make an impact for literal years, and teams rosters can change a lot by then. -
In the MLB draft you just take the best player available. They are years away from MLB usually and roster will be different then. If he needs up being elite and we have too many SS or LHH, he’ll either be good enough to play regardless or be a nice trade chip.
