  1. Aroldis Chapman has been nothing short of amazing this season.
  2. Walking the lead off hitter in general to start an inning, especially with a lead, always pisses me off
  3. The Red Sox pitchers have pulled of some crazy voodoo to get out off some bad situations tonight. I’d love an insurance run for Chapman
  4. I’m getting too old for these week day west coast games. I’m struggling to stay awake
  5. Alcantara has been one of worst pitchers in baseball this season. Hard pass
  6. It would be great if Duran could get hot again. His speed is game changing and just got the Sox a cheap run there
  7. I mean I hope so, but hope hasn’t gotten us a whole lot the past few years
  8. Sure. But removing the guy from your lineup who leads the team in RBI, OBP, OPS, runs and home runs while acquiring 0 hitters who will help you this season isn’t a great winning strategy.
  9. But will they spend money on anything good? They’ve been promising us they’re trying to win and I had to listen to how much money they’re saving by trading Mookie Betts for a pile of s***. What was that money used for? A bunch of injured pitchers like Hendriks, Giolito? A bunch of old washed guys like Kluber? The big signing of Trevor Story? It’s getting tiring hearing the same every year. We’ll see what happens in the off season but this move is a clear punting of the 2025 season and leaves a huge hole in the lineup for now and the future.
  10. Regardless if it is or not. This is a big market team that isn’t acting like it with the way they spend money. We shouldn’t be happy they’re “shedding salary.” Does shedding Devers contract give us cheaper ticket prices or anything? Absolutely f***ing not.
  11. Yeah he’s another one. Old, performing well and on a 1 year deal. LHRP often have value at the deadline so I wouldn’t be opposed to dealing them for prospects
  12. Since they’re clearly not trying to win this year, Chapman is absolutely a guy we should trade. He’s an old reliever on a 1 year deal. If someone overpays for him, accept asap.
  13. Maybe they can replicate the Sale Trade and deal Crotchet somewhere and pay his salary and see if he can win a cy young while we pay him to do so on another team. Possible the Marlins would deal -0.8 WAR Matt Mervis for Crotchet? Seems like a good Vaughn Grissom comp!
  14. Imagine what they could do with all the money they saved by trading Devers. Maybe they could sign another Trevor Story, Lucas Giolito, Corey Kluber, Walker Buehler and Yoshida!!!
  15. And it was after they traded Mookie and let Xander go. What is your point?
  16. Because ownership has become cheap and stupid. They’ve been “building for the future” since trading Mookie 5 years ago. So I’m supposed to be excited that MAYBE year 6 is when the rebuild finally completes???
  17. I also dont think I’d have a team who just got swept by an inept team this weekend high on my list. The same team that lost a bidding war to another team in the same state for a superstar player…
  18. And I’m supposed to care why? I’m not a soccer fan. I don’t care if John Henry is struggling to build a soccer contender. If he can’t afford to make all the teams he owns competitive, sell the Sox to someone who will.
  19. Let’s look at the positives. At least John Henry saved more money for his soccer team. That’s all that really matters anyway, right?
  20. That’s my problem, how long does this “rebuild” last? They’ve made the playoffs once since 2018. Every other year has been 3rd or 5th place finish. Trading a 28 year old elite hitter in his prime for a mediocre package to “save money” doesn’t seem like it’s doing a whole lot to be competitive in year 5 of the rebuild.
  21. Logan Gilbert is a really good pitcher. Luckily the Sox traded their best hitter before facing him!
  22. If the argument for this being a good trade is “Devers won’t earn his contract” it’s a bad argument. It’s not our money and ownership has been refusing to spend money as of late. Devers is one of the best hitters in baseball and is legitimately feared by other pitchers. On top of that he kills the Yankees and performs very well in the playoffs. Replacing a bat like Devers isn’t easy. 30 homer/100 RBI bats with a career OPS under .850 don’t grow on trees. The front office and ownership traded a superstar and fan favorite for a mediocre return and I’m supposed to be happy they have more money to “spend?” Yeah, f*** that. They likely won’t even spend the money or another star or plan on using whatever they do spend on more injury prone 1 year rental pitchers like Paxton, Giolito, Buehler and etc. The Red Sox absolutely got worse in 2025 and near future and there is no guarantee at all this makes them better in distant future.
