  1. Overpaying, they need to give us Travis Snider and Alex Rios then.
  2. Oh. Well, no Buchholz and no Anderson involved? Full steam ahead. But then again, that's probably why its false.
  3. What the f*** did you post? Why the f*** did you edit it? You keeping f***ing secrets from me?
  4. You mean the Bubba Bell for Justin Verlander type s*** (yes, I have heard that from people)?
  5. What the hell is happening to this place lately? Did all of you get blue balls at once?
  6. I don't mind it. The worst it can be is discussion fodder.
  7. http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/excellent.jpg
  8. They aren't the assets that Buchholz is right now.
  9. Thing is, Lowrie was injured at that time. No matter what Green/Lugo put us through, Lowrie would be back at some point. So its pretty senseless to go get another starting-caliber shortstop as a temporary replacement. In this scenario, Lowrie is gone.
  10. They've been 'kicking the tires'. That doesn't scream serious talks, to me at least.
  11. We gave up bags of lettuce to get Adam LaRoche, but we'll have to pay something meaningful to pry Glovey McNoodlebat out of there? Then who's the third team that Toronto and Boston are apparently looking for, and how do we get a legitamite shortstop (since Lowrie would likely be going to the Jays)?
  12. With our development system, the odds are a lot better than most.
  13. And I also don't care. WHEN OUR BIG BATS ARE PRODUCING, McNoodlebat status will not matter. A superior SS defender and weak bat in the bottom spot of a competent lineup is not a huge deal if we sacrificed the incumbent SS to get a top 3 pitcher in the majors. You could do worse. And if our big bats get swine flu or something and end up sucking for the rest of the season, well, we're not winning anything anyway. So what's the problem?
  14. 4 good-great players at their peak > 1 great player at his peak.
  15. Defensively? Also, if the FO is hell-bent on getting Halladay and Toronto is hell-bent on getting a SS prospect, you don't have many other options.
  16. Said pitching prospect is the top prospect in our organization and projects to be a future ace. And, he's not the only piece of value going back to SD in the deal. And, we also don't need Gonzalez (regardless of what the prototypical Bahstin fan wants you to think), rather we want him because the fact that our bats are slumping creates the illusion that our offense somehow sucks. Buchholz and the other top/soon-to-be-top prospects they'd be giving up are all a lot younger than 27.
  17. Why do they need to avoid Wilson like the plague?
  18. I guess Pittsburgh, the Sox flip Lowrie to Toronto and something else (likely a little lesser than the LaRoche package) to Pittsburgh, Jack Wilson and Roy Halladay to Boston.
  19. Its a fairly widespread belief that Wakefield was DL'ed at least in part to get Buchholz some time in the majors. I'm not at all concerned about him. In the playoffs, you need 4 starters. Beckett and Lester are Beckett and Lester, Penny's performing well, and we'll have Wakefield back unless something completely insane happens.
