    What the f***? Did you pass 3rd grade English? The Yankees would spent more money if the Red Sox matched their Teixeira offer. Whatever number the Sox offered, the Yankees would have kept going up, to the point that whichever team ended up with them got a good player at a truly grotesque price. That is never the right route to take. What is so hard to understand about this?

    Whoever labeled him a 'fill-in'? This isn't Jeff Bailey. At the very worst he's platooning with Lowell (in the order). I've heard of far less impressive platoon combos at the CIF spots.
