It's pretty clear that Farrell has lost the clubhouse and that his coaches are incompetent. Based on things I've seen from and read on him, Farrell strikes me as being similar to Scott Skiles in the NBA; he'll get a team to do very well at first, but he has a domineering, overly intense personality that wears thin quickly (especially in baseball, where seasons are marathons) and will lead to him being ousted after a few seasons for poor performance as a result of the team tuning him out.

I think it's about time to blow it up, move the people you can realistically move, and line the team with prospects in their place. Fire Farrell and the coaches too.

Kelly at least is worth trying as a reliever/possible future setup man. Masterson is just a train wreck. Any offense that doesn't shell Masterson at this point deserves to have their clubhouse skunked. I'm still in favor of a rotation house-cleaning. Move Kelly to the pen and leave Masterson at a gas station somewhere. Call up E-Rod and Johnson to take their places. Maybe get rid of one of Buchholz or Miley too and give Wright a chance in that spot*. It's not like we have a whole lot to lose, we're already the worst rotation in the AL, and it's hard to see where improvement will come from with Masterson and Miley serving up a constant stream of meatballs, and Buchholz and Kelly being total head cases. * - I know Miley's extension likely prohibits such things. I'm too lazy to look up Buchholz's contract situation though. In fairness to the Red Sox, for as long as I can remember they've been the kind of organization that will beat up the other team's ace one night and then get hosed by some random dickhead fresh from the Oregon wilderness the very next day.
