    Teams are well matched up with pitching advantage to Tampa and hitting advantage to Sox. Key here is can the Sox win close games again Tampa? We had no problems blowing them off - but have struggled mightly when the game has been close ( 1 run games). For a team that is based on pitching and defense - Tampa has shown tremendous tenacity through out the season to come back and win close games. Francona has not been great in making the small things that wins close games ( that's not his strength as a manager at all) - which concerns me quite a bit.

    Best pitching - Lester. Best hitting - Bay. Biggest shot - Drew's 2 run homer with bad back. Biggest Disappointment - Lowell - Pedroia just missed the award.

    If not for the contribution of German_Sox - this thread will not have 2 pages. Why so much lack of energy when we are certainly in play-off and won a tough series in Torronto?

    My preferred way in the play-off ALDS - Against White Sox - chances are we will have home field. ALCS - Against the Angels - chances are we will be the visitors.

    Also I hate Francona for the record. A manager's contribution is not much in a blow-out. Francona has sucked in close games this year making all dumb decisions. I can't believe this guy got two rings - better to be lucky than good. This year may be more like 2005 - when we had no business to get in the play-offs. Unfortunately - we have way better pitching this year.

    I don't care about Rays or Jays - I am freaking out because we are playing bad baseball. Even if we get in the play-offs I will be shocked if we get past the Angels.
