  1. Continuing with the theme of bad umpiring, there was a call at 2nd in the Mariners/Twins game tonight that cost Minnesota the game. 1st/2nd with 2 outs, an Ichiro grounder up the middle is fielded and flipped to 2nd for the out, only the runner was called safe and the guy from 2nd came around and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.
  2. I'm not sure where Conner Powers is projected, but I would love for the Sox to grab him. He played up in the Cape Cod league last summer and has been a joy to watch at Mississippi State. Very talented.
  3. Really tough call but I'm going Celtics in 6. YH, what's your take on the series? Prediction? Surprised you haven't chimed in yet.
  4. Yeah, I wasn't expecting him to. Just wondering where exactly they had him slotted at.
  5. Ranaudo has had some ups and downs this season for LSU, but that dude can pitch. He was a huge reason they won the College World Series last year. Would be a very nice pick. I don't know a ton about Harvey off the top of my head. I'll be looking for him on tv during the regionals/supers if UNC advances. Just out of curiosity, where did Drew Pomeranz go in the mlb.com mock? I hate Ole Miss, but Pomeranz is a bad, bad man.
  6. It was definitely time for him to hang it up. Glad he's doing it now instead of struggling through another season of pinch-hitting and the occasional game at DH though. Griffey was always a class act and will go down as one of the best players of all time. I have a ton of respect for him as a player and person.
  7. After Howie Kendrick hit the walk off the day after Morales' injury I thought it was hilarious how over the top un-celabratory it was. Lots of patting on the back, etc.
  8. I have a 1.21 ERA and 0.85 WHIP this week... and I'm losing both categories. Unbelievable.
  9. Good. I didn't see the call that got Buehrle/Guillen ejected, but I heard it was terrible.
  10. Let me get this straight. Dwight Howard nearly takes Pierce's face off back in Game 2 and isn't even called for a T, yet Perkins walking away from a play is called for one? Wow... And now Davis has a concussion. Good lord.
  11. Perkins was battling down low with Howard and was called for a ******** foul. He was pissed about the call but was walking away from the play to avoid getting in further trouble and the official slapped a tech on him (his second, auto ejection) and that was that. That was embarassing for the league. I'm still in awe that it actually happened. The tech put him over the limit and now he's suspended for Game 6 unless the Celtics make a comeback.
  12. Are yall aware Perkins is also gone for Game 6? I just cannot get over the fact that A) they called him for a foul on Howard B ) they called a tech on him/ejected him for WALKING AWAY from the ref What a travesty. Thanks, NBA. You never disappoint.
  13. Should be another low scoring game tonight. We've had worse luck against Garza than pretty much any pitcher I can think of off the top of my head. Tonight would be an excellent night for Lackey to right the ship and keep the streak going. There's a huge difference in gaining 3 games on the Rays compared to just 1.
  14. And in other news, Jose Bautista leads the majors with 15 home runs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pittsburg release him about two years ago?
  15. Why is that? I think it's pretty cool just to be somewhere different than where its been played for years now.
  16. I picked Chicago before the season began so obviously I'm sticking with that. Plus, I think they're clearly the best team in the NHL. Hawks in 6

  18. I was going to mention that he definitely seems to be throwing harder than he has the past few years. It surprises me that he's currently the hardest thrower in the AL East though. He just looks so much more comfortable out there. When he gets into jams (like tonight in the 1st) he doesn't get rattled and give up the big innings like he had done before this year. It's great to see him looking like he's realizing his full potential, something we had been hoping for since he came up in '07 and threw the no-hitter. What we're seeing so far this season is why I really didn't want to trade him last year when his name kept floating around.
  19. She's from my home town. Wooo. Haha. Anyway, not really THAT worried about the series. I was mainly just wanting to close it out tonight so we could sit back and watch LA and Phoenix battle it out for hopefully as long as possible. I think LA wraps that up in 5, and we better do the same. If we lose in Orlando I'll start to get a little nervous though.
  20. Continuing to play good baseball.
